People Attempting to Undermine Safe Sport

Is it ok if the manager at McDonalds offers a promotion to the employee that gives him the best blow job?

Or forgives more attendance issues to the one who shows him tits when he asks for it?

No?

Ok then.

Safe sport protects people of all ages, not just minors.

In many cases it has been the underage, but it should protect all athletes.

@hey101 – What in the what?
Riding was this person’s CAREER. Her BOSS gave her a career changing opportunity, and then later threatened to take it away and derail her career if she didn’t give him oral sex. From that point on, her opportunities for career advancement were linked to her having sexual relations with him, and she was PUNISHED in her WORKPLACE if she did not comply with sexual demands. This is a young person who was not just trying to make it in a very tough industry but also needed to pay rent and buy groceries. Not everyone can afford to just walk away from their job. Her boss even threatened to “take her down” if she left.

Are you suggesting that it is okay for bosses and trainers in the equestrian industry to offer career advancement to their employees or special opportunities to students in exchange for sexual favors? That it’s okay to punish workers or students if they don’t comply with sexual demands? That it’s okay to threaten someone with a career takedown if they refuse to have sexual relations with you?

Please, just tell us exactly which part of this trainer’s behavior you think is acceptable.

People then say “oh she could have just walked away”. Walk away? To where? A whole different life because the one you are living will be gone. And for what? Because some guy wants a blow job?

I will never understand why so many people think it’s ok to treat women as though they are subhuman. :no_mouth:

And I’m SO tired of people throwing their hands in the air and saying, “oh, it’s just a he said - she said situation.” Almost ALL crimes (and many assorted unacceptable behaviors) are specifically committed with some level of secrecy, privacy, or discretion in order for perpetrators to protect themselves from repercussions. A sexual predator failing to commit their crime publicly is not some kind of absolution from accountability.

good riddance to that guy

“trading” sexual favors within the confines of employment, regardless of the proposed opportunities, does not excuse the employer of wrong doing. Similarly to the adult and minor parameters of consent, an employer is always “in the wrong” for allowing/participating in inappropriate behavior due to power dynamics. Hope that helps…

Jumping off from these excellent points, I’m struck by the difference in people’s reactions to the victims, like hey101 (she - and it’s almost always she - should just walk away and allow the man to do his best to use his position to ruin her in the industry at which point people like hey101 would suggest she get a job in another field) and the sympathy you so often see when men are revealed to be predators.

Think about all the ‘I stand with George’ garbage and identical stuff that is said, even here on this forum, about these men when they are banned by Safe Sport: this is all they’ve ever done, they can’t just get another job, horse trainers are in a unique position as they often don’t have degrees or job experience outside horses so a SS ban takes away their ability to make a living, etc., etc.

But, for the victims: they can just get blackballed and driven out of at least the local horse community no problem, move to the opposite coast or get a different job, no bigs. But god forbid the men pulling this :poop: are ever expected to make a living outside horse/rider training.

The double standard is exhausting.

I think this case points out what is often forgotten.

Stables and trainers are employers and are subject to their state rules of employment.

Sexual harassment and discrimination laws are probably more stringent that SS rules. I doubt many trainers take time to familiarize themselves in the nuance of employment law.

I think it is a shame that some dont recognize what they should be very familiar with, as a working person, the laws that protect us in the workplace.

Why is he still posting as if he’s at the horse shows? Is he really still showing up anyway or is that just for social media? :smiling_imp::triumph:

Allegedly he was escorted off the show grounds but returned and show security/management did not do anything about it.

I think @hey101 needs to retake Safe Sport bc they clearly don’t know anything about it.

Unreal. Thinks he’s above all rules like so many of the evil ones in this business

I just found this article in a political magazine. I thought it might interest some of you.

https://spectator.org/the-limits-of-delegation-to-the-private-sector/

The author of that article, George Perry, is not a lawyer, even though the piece is filed under “constitutional opinions”. I suppose there’s nothing wrong with people who are not actual scholars of the law to have opinions about such things; I just found it disingenuous. Perry is also fond of sharing his opinions about transgender athletes, such as in the article titled “New LPGA Policy Lets Men Compete as Women if They Look Girly Enough”.

I read the article twice, about two hours apart. Both times I found it incoherent, full of legal jargon that failed to make a clear argument about anything, lacking either context or explanation. Either a bad author or poor editing. Maybe the author is just a grumpy old man who needs to earn a living as a magazine contributor? Maybe I’m just a grumpy old woman who used to earn a living trying to persuade PhD students to write in readable English?
