Perfect Prep Training Day

I am using this on my 5 yr old I’ve had about 6 weeks. Horse is sound and in regular work, doing well. He’s got some anxiety but has not proven himself insane or dangerous, even spooky- just a little anxious. My question is whether one ounce of Training Day is sufficient per day? The ingredient levels don’t really tell you what the levels per ounce are. I was giving one ounce per day, and when I looked closer, my little 2 lb tub is only a 16 day supply, which means I should be giving 2 ounces a day. Is one ounce enough to have an effect??

  • Please, don’t derail into the ins and outs of horse nutrition, wet saddle pads, or an argument over what is show legal. I just would like feedback re my specific question. Thanks in advance.

I would think the maker would be able to tell you this. Without knowing a lot more about than the label shows there’s no way to make an intelligent decision.

G.

I know! lol. It’s affordable at one ounce a day, but at two…yeah, not so much.

I think it’s 2 oz a day for 2 weeks then 1 oz a day.

This is what their instructions say:

Feeding Instructions:
Pre-Event Level:
For maximum effect feed 2, one-ounce scoops morning and night, beginning 48 hours before the targeted activity. Some horses respond better with an additional 2 scoops 3 hours before your event. Adjust for effect.

Maintenance Level:
Feed 2, one-ounce scoops of Training Day formula twice daily for 2 days. Reduce to find optimum maintenance level. Each scoop delivers one ounce.

I did call the company directly…the lady I spoke with didn’t make it sound like she thought 1oz was enough, but I’d have to try it and see. She said the formula has instant and slow release mag so it’s best divided into two feedings; also said couldn’t divulge exact levels as formula is proprietary and I guess it will never come in SP because they want people to be able to adjust the dosage as needed,

I’m going to try 1/2 oz AM and PM an see how that goes. Otherwise I will have to find something else. At $50+ a month based on 1 oz per day it starts to become cost prohibitive to feed this stuff.

If anyone has done 1 oz a day with success would love to hear. Or I guess at this point, any other calming supps that are good.

Slow and instant release magensium? Huh?

You still sell Dynamite? Anything good they have?

I’m not a distributor anymore, no. They do have an Easy Boy product (or did, it’s been a while) but it’s just as easy, and cheaper, to do your own magnesium and B vitamins, IMHO.

A few people I know are using Quietex with good results. From their experiences it sounds like there was a period of trial and error to find the product and dosage that worked best.

I used that amount on my horse that was on lay-up. I did 1 oz per day because he was at a small barn where they couldn’t do 2 feedings a day. Horse can be finicky and 2 oz of the powder with a small amount of feed was not palatable. So 1 oz it was! He was quiet for his lay-up and we kept him on it at the same dose when I moved him to another barn to start him working again.
I also used it briefly for my son’s polo pony; she was strongly attached to the other mare that came with her & with the separation of different corrals, new environment, etc I figured it wouldn’t hurt to take the edge off. I think it helped her settle and she is her usual quiet self now without the supplement.

The way I read it was to feed two scoops twice daily (four scoops total) for two days and then reduce the dosage to find the optimal level.
