Performance horse registry

looking at an middle aged gelding, advertised as “eligible to be registered with Performance Horse Registry”, as far as I knew it was shut down in 2016? Has it been resurrected or is the seller clueless?

I don’t believe it has been resurrected. There was talk of bringing the anglo european studbook to the US for these horses, but I don’t know if that got off the ground or not.

PHR is indeed defunct. There are usually other options for horses with partial pedigrees if that’s the issue. Depends on the situation though. Do you know the bloodlines?

typical priarie warmblood - by a warmblood stud with no approvals, out of a stock horse mare. Won’t be an issue for the horses intended use but if the seller is sloppy on one detail it does make you wonder what other information they are off on

He would probably be eligible for AWSSR papers

The seller may just not be aware PHR isn’t around anymore, especially if they only knew about it back when the horse was born, or if they got the horse before 2016
