pergolide: compounded capsules or Prascend tablets?

My mini mare with Cushings and Insulin resistance is doing well on 1 mg / day of Prascend. However, the tablets are expensive, 60 for $114, vs, $48 for the same number of compounded capsules fro Thrivingpets.com. Has anyone used the capsules and this provider? Any other recommendations? My vet is skeptical that the capsules will be as good as the tablets.

I’ve used both, except I got the Pergolide from Westwood Pharmacy. I preferred the Prascend because I could slip them into the horse’s mouth and not have to fight about it. The Pergolide tablets were about the size of a nickle & pretty thick. Really hard to feed.

I think that 60 for $114 is a good deal. IIRC, I paid $150 for 60.

PS. my insert for the Prascend said that horses 800 pounds or smaller should be on 1/2 pill. You might want to check with your vet to see if you could reduce the dosage.
