Pessoa Wide Noseband Bridle

Tips on darkening? I’ve tried Neatsfoot oil and olive oil which has helped but still more red/orange toned than I’d like.

I’ve always had good luck with Hydrophane darkening oil.

Walsh’s Blue Ribbon has stain added to it, so it darkens more easily without you having to over oil. Too much oil weakens the leather and will cause stretching, maybe you should just ride in it and let it get dirty and keep cleaning it. Dirt and sweat help darken it too, but some leathers just don’t seem to darken.

I dip mine in a mixture of 3/4 Neatsfoot and 1/4 Feiblings hoof dressing. Stick it in a plastic bag and stick it in the sun to warm up. The feiblings helps to darken it more than just neatsfoot. I have several Pessoa bridles all done this way and they have become a beautiful rich Havana color vs the fire engine red they come as
