THIS is interesting.
Yes, it was a very interesting. Thanks
Intelligent, well spoken and soft spoken, articulate and clear organized thoughts put together; no name calling, no mockery. Truthsā¦
What are we waiting for???
Heās, hopefully, the future of the Democratic party. Iād love to see him lead our nation. Heās the whole package and if only Americans can see past his homosexuality, heād be an easy choice to make. Hearing him speak is a pleasure-- real intelligence and humility shine through. Breath of fresh air!!
I would vote for him. I have long liked Pete.
Thanks for sharing that. It would never have shown up on my radar. Love him!
It will be sort of interesting to see which differences will take the longest for Americans to accept when they elect a president.
I mean, Iām sure there are a lot of people who worry more about the qualifications than the other stuff. But there are also plenty of people who donāt.
After almost 250 years, weāve still only deviated from a straight white Christian guy one time. So far, anyway.
And it looks like that trend will continue again this year. Barring something extremely unexpected.
I feel like the segment of the population that canāt fathom anyone other than a straight man as the leader of America will accept a gay man before a womanā¦ after all it took 300 years for women to gain the right to vote here in N. America!
I canāt even begin to predict what those people will think.
I do think itās sort of amazing that Mexico has managed to elect a Jewish woman as their next president before we have even managed to elect a person who is Jewish OR a woman. Much less both at once.
And thatās even considering that Mexico had something like 27 candidates assassinated, according to a friend of mine who follows the news there.
If I was an American President Pete would get my vote!
When Pete was appointed, I really scratched my head about it.
But then I got to thinking that leading the DOT isnāt about engineering or planning. Itās about management and itās about brokering agreements. It takes someone willing to dig into the details of How Stuff Works and How Government Works (there are so many layers of authority in transportation!). Secretary Pete has done that and done it well.
I used to work with FHWA and state DOT leadership. They were so impressed by Pete. One really senior guy told me how he had never seen anyone who showed up for a meeting as well prepared and able to speak to the issues and options for resolution as Pete. It was quite an endorsement.
Is he a potential President? Who knows. But I hope he stays in government. We need smart hardworking people in government.
Who is that Hank fellow? He seems like a guy who has a lot going on in his head, too!!
I would also like to see Jamie Raskin run
Yep. Too late for 2024, but Buttigieg 2028.
Served in the militaryā¦
What I have noticed in the few live interviews/discussions that Iāve seen āMayor Peteā do, is that he is EXCELLENT when speaking āoff the cuffā. Ask him ANYTHING, and he has a quick, smart, and, sometimes, funny answer to whatever outrageous thing thatās been said.
He is, he is quick on his feet and wicked smart. Those qualities would make a great press secretary, he needs to be tested in a state-wide election. I donāt understand why people think heās qualified to be president. I really like Jamie Raskin too but what experience does he have that would make him a great president or even win a national election? Raskin has only won elections in a very Democratic district in a very Democratic state.
Heck I remember when some of you wanted Michael Avenatti to run for president.
Are you serious or joking? Iām sorry, I cannot tell.
In case youāre really asking, the Green brothers, John and Hank, are perhaps the first most important and famous internet people you maybe never heard of. They started the YouTube channel: the Vlog Brothers in 2007. The Greens and Secretary Pete are all from Indiana and are the exceptions to many political assumptions about the state.
John Green is a fabulous fiction writer and, with his high school history teacher, built the CrashCourse empire where we, and my cramming HS students, can learn practically anything academic in a big hurry.
Hank is a scientist who, like his brother, is also a quirky, brilliant wonderful human who is currently fighting a battle against cancer. ETA: Ooops, I hadnāt gotten to the part where he talks about it when I wrote this. Oh well, Iām a member of the Department of Redundancy Department.
Thanks for the info. Iām afraid Iām not a vlog watcher: I prefer to read instead. So I didnāt know who this fellow was.
