petite adult - kids breeches sizing? or breeches that run small?

i’m looking for some breeches that would fit me better and was thinking of trying kids breeches. i’m a 23/24/0 in regular clothing. i have the following breeches:

  • pikeur ciara - 24, too big pretty much everywhere
  • smarkpak full seat - xs, slightly loose to begin with the baggy after 1 wear
  • fits knee patch - 24 fits pretty good but legs a bit big
  • equine couture brittni - 24 fits best, a bit of gaping in the waist, good rise, haven’t worn them riding yet so not sure if they will stretch out too much.

any idea what size i might be in kids or what brands might fit me best? i do prefer low rise.

TS Trophy hunter is a size 16 kids or 24 adult.

I would say that the 16 is closer to a 26 ladies. I wear 26 in pretty well everything from breeches to jeans to dress pants, and I can wear TS Trophy in 16 easily.

I’m a 26 in TS, and feel like a 16 is very butt squishy. But for my size I’m a little curvy.

I’m 5’2", wear 24 jeans and 24 in most breeches. For kids breeches I wear 16 or kids XL.

I’m 5’5, wear 00 jeans and wear a kids 14 (preferably a 14L but they’re hard to come by in fun colours) in TS trophy hunters. I have a few pairs in a 24 but they fit pretty baggy

I wear a 16 in the kids TS because the 24s were too big. I do wonder if a 14 would have been better though. The kids are fine, but for that kind of money I would love to have breeches that fit a woman’s shape.

So, I think if you like the low rise you’d like the TS Trophy Hunter in a 14 or 16 if you aren’t too tall. I’m 5’1" with long legs and I wouldn’t want them any shorter.

I would guess a 16 in Pikeurs would be right (I show in 14s but I’m only 5’1 and wear 00 jeans). If you have a store with a good selection it’s definitely worth going in and trying a bunch of different brands & sizes from the kids section. The sizing can sometimes be a bit arbitrary, so you might be a 14 in one brand and totally out of kids sizes in another. It might be a bit of a hassle but they are cheaper than adult sized breeches, so if you find a few you really like it’ll save you some cash every time you need new ones.

Have you tried ariat? I’m a 25 in jeans (0P in dress slacks) and the ariat 24 fit me well and I think there is a size 22.

I’m barely 5’ and weigh 95 lbs. I fit perfect in a 22 TS, but because that is harder for me to find I can get away with a 24 but they tend to be a little long. A 14 kids TS also fits me great. I have always been a die hard TS fan but because the trophy hunters are pricey and I ride about 35 times a week, I started looking into other options. I really like the fit of Grand Prix breeches and they tend to run short which works perfect for me. My latest and greatest find to date are the Romfh international breeches in a 24. I LOVE them!!! They fit like they were made for me and I highly recommend them!

Whoa. I’m assuming there’s supposed to be a hyphen there.

I’m 5’1" and about 100 lbs… I wear a kids’ 12 in the TS schooling breeches (the cotton ones), or a 24 in Equine Couture.
