Thank you. Signatures are now approaching 4,000 with equestrians from all disciplines coming on board. Diplomacy has failed and new rules have failed. While the culture of horses being dispensable machines remains the only way to improve things seems to be to lobby for the high profile WEG - with all its pomp and ceremony - to be taken away from those promoting the “win at all cost” mind set.

Try getting potential participants to boycott it and give their reasons for doing so. Maybe resign their membership in the organization too. No entry fees, no membership dues … money talks more loudly than petitions. If nobody goes, the place has no competition to host.

Thanks again folks. Yes if all foreigners boycotted the endurance races in the UAE (until things improved) it would be great. Sadly “all expenses paid” invites are sent out and together with the massive cash prizes on offer and the likliehood that big money will be paid to any participants willing to sell their horses there will always be those who will participate. Some very high profile equestrians, from all disciplines, have now signed the petition and commented on it as they, too, believe that removal of WEC 2016 would be the most effective measure.
