Does anyone know how to tell the model or stiffness of a Petrie boot from the numbers stamped inside? Thanks!!
I’ve had 5 consecutive pairs of Petries (different styles) over the years. In mine, the stamp inside refers to measurements (shoe size, height, calf width, etc). They don’t relate to the model or stiffness - at least not in mine. My latest pair are 2 years old - if that matters.
Ditto for me too. I’ve had the typical ‘stove pipe’ stiff ones of 3 different models and the soft molded style which I prefer now because they are so much better for my 60 year old legs when still riding multiple horses, especially in the heat. With all of them, the numbers correspond to sizing measurements…now I do still have and compete in a pair that have lasted close to 16 years and look pretty darn good (of course they’re extremely stiff). The softer ones I tend to ‘wear out’ sooner but they’re price point makes that tolerable.
Thanks! I was hoping there was some way to tell to make it easier to buy used/demo boots. The pair I’m looking at has a 3 digit number, then the foot size, height, and calf size, then a single digit, then a four digit number. I was hopeful some of those other numbers meant something specific.
Most of the models of Petrie by the pattern of seams/stitching are fairly unique in their appearance though probably pretty hard to tell the calf leather vs cow (rind) leather in a picture so you could compare your photo to the Petrie or maybe Dutchridingboots.eu website.
