Nice interview with Phillip just broadcast on Today…Hoda interviewed him at home - video of the family riding, and Hoda got on a horse!
It was a nice segment. I am full of giggles for the pink coat he set her up in, in light of recent attire discussions here. He was most gracious - made the sport seem accessible! We won’t even tease him about leaving her driving reins un remarked on…

LOL it was red your tv screen must be going:)
you know I am always amazed that Phillip does these interviews. If you have any experience with him you will know he is a man of few words.
Is there a copy of the interview somewhere? I’d like to see it… Thanks!
They replayed the segment on the Today Show this morning; I’d assume it will appear on their website at some point within the morning. Hoda seemed rather taken by the whole attire she had to wear in particular the boots.
Dangit… I watched a bit of Today after Hubby left for work this morning, then decided to go back to sleep for an hour. I’ve had the TV on since then, so I guess I slept through it! And dial-up sure isn’t going to get me the clip online (or any of the live feed coverage. Poop.)

I think she meant “pink” in the traditional sense of a pink (or pinque) hunt coat. Which is red.
What a good sport both Phillip and Hoda are!! That was a VERY fun segment! Thanks for sharing it!
He was very patient and the segment was hilarious especially in light of our discussions of wearing “colors” that you have not earned.
So I want to know: who’s USET coat was that? It was definitely a woman’s.
OK, how am I such a goob that it isn’t taking me to the show? I get to the site but then there are tons of vids to choose from. Browsed those and didn’t see it.
Finally saw it (thanks Glimmerglass!). Oh, to let more people be humbled by the horse! Not as easy as it looks!
Yes, I too wonder whose coat it was – it fit her very well! Looks like he let her keep the boots.

if you want to see the clip go to the above link and under the “more video today” section click the “Horsing around with Hoda” link.
Happy viewing!
But never referred to as “red” - it can be called pink or scarlet.
What a GREAT segment. I like Hoda a lot, because she always seems so genuine and Phillip seems like such a nice guy!

Aug. 11: TODAY’s Hoda Kotb gets an equestrian lesson from Olympic rider Phillip Dutton.
Direct link to the video segment below:
SO cute!
From inside the sport it made Phillip seem down to earth and for people who don’t ride it gave a good look at equestrian sports and how difficult it really is (the horse doesn’t really do all the work!).
I also liked how Phillip always wore an approved helmet (except in the picture from olympic dressage) and all of his kids and other people on his property did too. They mentioned he cared about safety so I like seeing people put their actions behind their words.
