BackCountry Navigator Pro. I can download trail maps in the event I don’t have a gps signal. It also links up with EveryTrail, which is nice. I can save a trail that I’ve ridden and add to it or start over. Totally love this app.
I downloaded the Endomondo app and tried it out this weekend.
I liked it - worked well. When I first turned it on - it warned that I did not have a GPS signal, but that it would start tracking when it picked one up - which seemed to be shortly thereafter.
It has some adds which can be annoying, but I am guessing those go away if I upgrade.
I do not have reception in most of the area I ride - but it worked fine with the GPS.
I like how it shows you your speed for each mile. I have a little rabbit near my fastest mile (mid ride) and a little turtle on my slowest (cool down on the way back) Its nice to have elevation changes which it tracks as well.

I have no service on my phone and am using My Tracks. It goes off the GPS signal. I can save the track, it gives me distance and elevation and I can add it onto google earth, and share it or send it to my comouter. Best of all it is free
I have been in a lot of areas with no cell service and it works well. With all the extra water and flooding I have not tried it in some of the canyons yet.[/QUOTE]
I use My Tracks, too. I use it riding, hiking, skiing, running, etc. and have yet to have lack of signal be a problem. Most of the places I hike and ski have no cell reception or minimal reception and it still works great.
Endomondo will work when your phone is in airplane mode too - I’ve run my phone out of power in about an hour in some remote trails until I found that out. (At least on an Android phone, not sure about other OS phones.)
