Phone App?

Best phone app to track trail rides?

I like Track My Hack

I use Map My Hike.

Endomondo

I love Endomondo!

Endomondo here too.

Endomondo is better if you have an Android. I loved it on my Android phone, went to an iPhone, not so much.

I like Everytrail, but they’ve had server issues off and on the last six months.

Nike Plus, or my garmin gps watch

Has anyone tried SafeRider? I just installed it, so haven’t had a chance to try it yet. It tracks rides an also has a fall alarm. If it detects that you’ve stopped moving (like if you’ve had a fall) it sends your GPS location to a predetermined contact letting them know where you are and that you need help. Awesome if it works, but I don’t think I’ll be going out trail riding alone with it until I’m positive it does.

I installed Ride Alert but have done nothing else with it. Guess I should investigate further

I added Safe Rider, but now I need to get other people to add it, so I can have buddies to alert.

Have you looked at it enough to learn if you are you able to enter contacts that do not use the app themselves? Thanks.

An important reminder is that none of these apps will work if you are in a place without a cell signal, which for me is pretty much any time I ride in a state forest.

I have no service on my phone and am using My Tracks. It goes off the GPS signal. I can save the track, it gives me distance and elevation and I can add it onto google earth, and share it or send it to my comouter. Best of all it is free

I have been in a lot of areas with no cell service and it works well. With all the extra water and flooding I have not tried it in some of the canyons yet.

Not true. They work off the phone’s gps, even in the national park where cell service is blocked.

Interesting, I guess I need a new phone. Mine had a stroke part way into an endurance ride and kept screaming LOST GPS!!! LOST GPS!!! You try shutting it off while your horse is spooking sideways on top of a ravine.

Endomondo the free version

Well, my phone lost its GPS signal today in the car - that just happens sometimes, unrelated to cell service.

After using the Track My Hack and being pretty happy with it, I recently did a requested update to the app and it lost all my data. All my previous rides, even password. Grrrrr… Looking at endomondo now
