I hereby nominate Leslie Granger as the pen-ultimate hunting photog/documentor!! Wonderful hunting photos and the GPS/map things is stupendous! For those wondering what a REAL hunt looks like? Look here!! I couldn’t get over how green Missouri is!!! All that grass!! Your descriptions are right on - please keep them up. I really enjoyed them!
And the hunt ball pictures could’ve been taken anywhere in the USA ay!??! The same lovely women. The dashing tuxedoed men! The YMCA, the makarena, the line dancing after coctail hour!! How about that black halter dressed woman?!! WHAT a figure!! What a dress! I hate her!! :winkgrin: But she looks like fun so maybe I could learn to like her!! Only 1 problem - like WHERE were the UPDO’s!!!??!!!

As far as Missouri being green, we finally had some rain before that last hunt and I couldn’t believe how green it turned overnight. It almost looks like Ireland.
I noticed one of the young teenage girls with an Updo and I really need to do that next year. Maybe Rt66Kx will provide some help there?
The halter topped lady with the bare midriff is one of our Masters and she is truly a lot of fun. Even though she does have a lovely figure it is impossible to hate her. I just keep trying to feed her but that doesn’t seem to work as she burns it off faster than she can put it in.
Oh, and the hound that fell off the bluff last hunt has recovered. Quite a scare though.

That lovely lady is 82 years young
She boards with me. I haul her and her horse to hunts but she rarely asks for or needs help even though I would be delighted to help her. She has the best attitude.
When I get to the farm in the early hours she’s already got her horse tacked up and ready to go. She’s a trooper.
She’s a former MFH and used to run her own boarding facility.
She also beagles with me (whips from horseback), I have never heard her complain about anything even though her hands are clearly gnarled with arthritis.
She is an inspiration to me. I just hope I can find a young person (relative) to haul me to hunts when I’m 82.

She’s absolutely amazing, and please tell her I said so. And to think I thought she was in her 70’s :eek:
Now I’ve posted the photos I took myself from horseback.
I am now a firm believer in the black/ white dress rule…but the lack of
up -do’s in photographic proof leads me to still wonder about this!

Is that a Young Painted Wings on the black & white horse in the photos??? Any horse that will pack a junior rider is a saint and to have it packaged in such a nice looking body with color is even better!!!
That little girl on the big pinto (He’s a dutch warmblood) is one of the Master’s grandaughter’s. She’s 8 yrs old and he certainly does pack her around quietly. He was actually only a whip horse before she started riding him in the field.
We started a junior foxhunter program just this year and we have a third field “junior”. That goes slowest of all. When I saw how large the fields were going to be I decided the safest place to be was with the youngsters. I should have had more sense than to take my five year old on opening day but it worked out good because that was one more adult to have in the junior field so I rode at the back to keep an eye on things.
I have another horse that has hunted four or five seasons now and I should have probably taken him. It all worked out ok as I stayed on and the five year old behaved pretty well.
I made the comment to my husband that the pinto the little girl was on was either well medicated or a saint. I think it’s a little of both. He’s certainly a very attractive horse. They just bought a half brother of his that is a three year old. We’ll see if he becomes just as good.
Oh gosh, a Painted WB, what a hoot! I had figured it was a “something teen” former using horse w/ some slight lameness issue that the owner thought carrying a munchskin around would be kinder for him. Good luck to them with his sibling! Color, breeding and kid safe, we’re talking a priceless horse indeed!

Yeah, he’s not that old, the girl rides him pretty well and he’s a wonderful horse. I’m afraid they lost their best whip horse to their granddaughter as she’s been out the last four weekends in a row. They have four other horses but the Master and his wife both whip so they need a lot of horses. One of the other horses is recovering from a suspensory injury so is on light work and the three year old is just getting started.
We had another lovely hunt on Saturday. I rode my more experienced paint for his first hunt this season. He was great fun. We had a guest from Orange Country hunt.

Great photos and what wonderful write ups. I’m not aware of any GPS tracking on my hunt, it sure would be a fun thing know- how far, the pace, etc.
I just started getting COTH mag a month or so ago after a 30 year break and it has been chock full of the winners photos from the big mid-Atlantic fall shows. I look at some of the riders legs and hand position over jumps and have to wonder “how long would they last without a flat groomed riding surface and rail to corral them?” Comparing those photos to your actual hunting photos is like apples to oranges. That is not to take away from what appears to be spotless turnout, certainly great rider effort to qualify and handle the nerves of a huge indoor show but geezy, peasy, what are the instructors teaching to??
