I need a new pair of breeches and am looking at the Pikeur Lugana. I’ve never had Pikeurs before, and I found a great deal on some… but they’re in Europe, so I really don’t want to be shipping them back and forth trying to figure out sizing. I wear a 30 in the Romfhs and a 28 in the Pipers, with larger hips and thighs and a smaller waist (and working on losing a bit of weight, but I need new breeches now.) Any help with sizing? I would definitely rather them be too big than too small… TIA!
I would definitely size up one from the Pipers. Smart to buy from Europe as the mark up over here is insane. I absolutely love my Pikeurs! They really hold up, have great feeling fabrics, and look really nice to boot.
Pikeur Lagunas are the only breeches that fit me! The waist is true to size and for someone with slim legs I find they fit reasonably well without too much baggyness. The Microfiber material has more stretch than the heavier weight.
They’re fairly straight up and down imo. For a small waist larger hips Pikeur makes other styles with pleats I think.
Go down a size with the Luganas. I am a 26 waist in Tredstep, Cavallos etc, but a 24 in Pikeurs.
If you are curvy the Cindy pikeurs may be a better fit.
I don’t think of the Luganas as a curvey fit - I am NOT curvy and they fit me quite well. I find them very true to size - similar to Cavallo, Ariat, etc. They are great breeches because they aren’t so low cut. Classic cut, pretty much the same breeches now as they were 10 years ago.
Well, I have biggish hips and a smaller waist and the luganas are soo flattering on me! I love them! I hate those breeches with the snaps on the hips, as they just accentuate my big hips – no thanks! I have never tried a piper, but I wear a 30 in most other brands of breeches and also take the 30 in piekur. They are slightly on the generous side, but not enough to size down. I love them!
My Luganas are lovely. I think they’re cut fairly straight, but I am definitely curvy and they fit wonderfully. I love that I found something to fit my butt and thighs but it doesn’t gap at the waist.
I only order them from Calevo! MUCH better price there than here! Be sure to check their sale section because I think the Luganas are almost always in there for 20 euro less or so.
I’m also curvier than whoever most breeches were cut for and love the Luganas in spite of their supposedly straight cut. I would recommend not going down a size if you have fuller thighs and a bit of a booty. I wear the same size in Luganas as I would in most American brands – a size down is tight in the butt/upper thigh while a size up starts to get baggy.
Nestor introduced me to Calevo, which I agree is the best place to get them (better prices than I found when I was last in Germany, even before subtracting VAT).
try them on locally if you can…I wear Pikeurs and can tell you I won’t buy a style without trying them.
Yes, try them on locally. Also, check prices at Amira-Equi in Britain. Wonderful service. I get all my Luganas there. I have been many different sizes (!), from 34 to 28, and the Lugana is stretchy without being thin. It will fit anyone. Beware Cindys–low cut!
