Piland Saddle

Any one has any experience with Piland saddles? I found one for sale nearby that the owner has not used in 20 years. Appears to be in good shape. I am trying to set up a date/place that we can meet up so that I can ride in it to see if it fits my horse and me but I wanted some input on this brand of saddle.

Hi, I bought one (John Piland maker) a few years ago. They are mostly custom and are very good saddles. Mine fit my horses fines but was too long a seat for me. (it was a cutting saddle so seat was long and flat). I sold it to someone several hundred miles away and she was very happy with it. Mine was pretty heavy-I weighed it at 51#. John Piland is the father of Tim Piland both make good saddles. John has been deceased for several years now. He was still around when I had my saddle and I did call him and talk to him to authenticate the saddle before I sold it.

If you decide you don’t want the Piland saddle I would love to know more information about it. I’m looking for one. Thank you

There is one here for sale, in Facebook “Reiner’s tack”, Sep. 23 post, but not marked sold yet:

Is in Colorado.
Always be careful buying over the internet, there are spammers every place.
Double check so you don’t send the money and never see the saddle.

I have one and LOVE it.

The one that i was looking at did not fit the horse so the search continues. I am only buying something local because I want to make sure it fits the horse.

There are two Pilands for sale in the Kyle saddle web page, way down, about 60 from the start:

I think you have a week to try a saddle Kyle sells, so you can return it if it doesn’t fit.

This might be easier.
