PJ vs. Prestige: just tried Prestige

My trainer feels that my older PJ puts me in a bit of a chair seat. I do feel that it’s hard to get my leg underneath me. I tried her Nona Garson Prestige and it does wonders for my position, but it’s hard as rock! I really like how soft my PJ is, but of course, mushiness is secondary to position.

I don’t know if I should start saddle hunting or not. What do you think?

Try more than 2. I am in a “prestige” barn and thought I was going to buy one. Fitter came out with over 20 saddles and the prestige was a firm no from my horse.

My very UL trainer says pros can ride in anything but ammys really need a well fitted saddles to do their best for themselves and their horses (safety, riding effectively, keeping it fun). IMO I’d shop but that’s because I am in the thick of it!

There are so many saddles out there. Obviously the saddle has to fit the horse too or the rider will be unbalanced.

Figure out what works for you in the Prestige. Think about seat depth, placement of stirrup bars versus deep point of saddle, knee roll configuration, etc.

A lot of the older saddles just seem built for chair seat.
