Placebo or genuine mechanical change producing relief

Like most people who ride, I have a bad back. I have spinal arthritis, and several bulging disks in my lower back, along with a bad sacroiliac and a healed wedge fracture. Yesterday, I did some work on floors, and woke this morning at 4:30 am in agony. Pain wasn’t getting any better until I put on a sacroiliac belt and a back protector strapped as tightly as I could strap it. Pain immediately disappeared.

Is it just a placebo effect, or do the belts really help? They usually do, but is it all in my mind?

Not that I really care, since the pain is gone, but was just wondering if they actually do something to realign things in the back.

Pressure point therapy sound like.

Per my sister’s chiropractor back belts applied tightly decompress the spine. She wears 2 of those neoprene zip up numbers. I wouldn’t care if the pain went away.
