My father’s advice for horse training was to hit them between the eyes with a 2x4 to get their attention. This was the approach former EN staffers used for their campaign to change the Plantation name. It certainly got them alot of traffic but eliminated any chance of a name change. Yes, there were a number of old privileged white men involved, but they aren’t intrinsically mean or racist. Over the years they have contributed countless hours and resources so that we can play with our horses. A business-like proposition could have been brought before the board but wouldn’t have had the social media impact of an ultimatum. By and large patience, rationality and kindness get the job done better. With horses, dogs and people!

WOW! How does CoTH decide which ones to cover?
Considering the cost of travel, accommodation, equipment, etc. for covering such events, that’s not unexpected. Publicity isn’t free.

I did not mean to imply that event organizers shouldn’t have to pay media companies if they want coverage, just that maybe Plantation has their own media team and didn’t feel the need to pay for additional coverage. Who knows - I was merely speculating. My apologies.

Oh, come off it. Go look up the etymology of the word. In the OED, if you can access it.
Then go and read Chapter Two in Black Beauty.
If you want to dislike the word at least learn what it means before you blast off about it.
