Platinum Coach trailers

Anyone out there have one? Opinions?

Maybe Lucassb will chime in here. I think she just bought one.

I’ve always heard great things about them and considered them a top tier trailer. A couple months ago, I was have some repairs made to my trailer at a big dealer who has carries Platinum and Cimmarron among others. Just for fun we were pricing out a 2+1 and it was her opinion that since Cimmarron was sold a few years ago, they are higher quality trailers than the Platinums. I found that very interesting at I always thought of Cimmarron (and CMs) a lower quality.

Not to say that Platinum is not a good trailer, I just found her thoughts very interesting and surprising!

I did just purchase one and am very pleased with it, though I’ve only had it a short while and so cannot speak to durability, etc.

I compared quite a few different trailers and liked the build quality, features and design of the Platinum the best; the dealer was also easy to work with and has been great about accommodating some of the minor changes I wanted to make (rearranging the saddle rack configuration in the dressing room.)

I did fairly extensive research on the brand before making the decision, as it was not an inexpensive purchase, and found only positive reviews. Well, the one exception was a poster here who claimed that they had “similar problems to Exiss,” but who would not elaborate or provide any examples. Other than that - nothing but glowing reports.

We were recently shopping and looked at Eby, Platinum, Sooner, Cimmeron, CM, and Featherlite. The Eby and Platinum were hands down the best. You couldn’t pay me to own the Sooner, Cimmeron or CM. We did buy a 2003 Featherlite, but would not buy one made after 2005, when Featherlite was sold to Universal.

I have one and love it. I bought it because I know a trainer who has one that gets A LOT of use and has held up well for years.

The electrical in my Platinum is not the best. The lights (esp the inside stall and driver’s side and rear flood lights) keep shorting out. I’ve had them repaired twice to deal with it but keeps happening. Also, the brake wires were not placed in a junction box and were barely twisted together. found this out when my trailer maintenance guy went to shorten the plug and had to open everything up. It was hidden so not visible otherwise. On my 2007 model tag along 3 horse combo, w/ tack room, I feel that the axles are placed just a hair too far to the rear so the front end is heavy and looks downhill. I tow with a Dodge 3/4T 4x4 long bed quad cab and weight distributing bars.
