Platinum Performance CJ - Worth the Money?

I know there are a couple other threads (that I have read) but most were older and I wanted to start up the topic again.

Do you feel like PP CJ is worth the money? It is very expensive, but I would love to heard that my purchase is justified. I just started my horse on it after him being dx with some arthritis, my vet suggested the CJ vs the Equine that I was on previously.

I understand Cosaquin ASU is similar but PP CJ has so much more that helps with the inflammatory response, which is what I’m looking for. Hope to hear some of your stories!

I don’t use the CJ, but I love all the other platinum products I use:
Performance
Balance
Healthy weight oil
Skin and Allergy

Yup. And I’ll leave it at that!!

IMO, no. It depends on why you are giving it and what you expect it to help with too. I think there are several much less pricey ways to address joint and nutritional issues.

@TWH Girl do you have any others that you use? I am using it for a young hunter that has some arthritis.

I spend the money on Adequan instead.

Many vets recommend it because they get paid to. Its not a bad product, just not my favorite.

Thank you all - The adequan is something that I’ve been thinking about as well… It totally might be more worth it.

I am going to try 1 month and see if I feel anything different. At $150 a month, you totally might be right. The adequan might be the way to go.

Adequan and SmartStride Ultra or EquiThrive.

Me too, but my horse doesn’t have arthritis. For arthritis I’d be inclined to use Previcox/Equioxx and MSM

I think I am tempted to back out of the CJ and maybe stay with the Equine and just do the adequan instead… It does seem like it is more worthwhile.

I also could do the following:
PP Equine Daily
Cosaquin ASU Daily
Adequan Shot Series

And I think when you divide out the cost monthly - it would be the same, if not less, as 1 month of CJ…

What is everyone’s thoughts on that?

Having just been researching this myself, I’m going to go with exceed six way

Compare the nutritional values.

My understanding is that clinical studies show oral supplements have little impact on arthritis but that Adequan given by injection is effective.

Ok you guys are awesome!

I think I am just going to stick to the adequan and just stay with the PP Equine ($50 a month). My other option is to use the barns ration balancer and add in ground flax myself.

I do not think our ration balancer is the best (I think it might be purina enrich) but it honestly would save me money to do it that way… so that totally could be an option.

I’d say try the Cosequin or perhaps just do the MSM part. The other ingredients are not very well utilized in an oral supplement.

I like Platinum products generally, but the CJ goes over the line for me on $ vs utility. I do like the regular Equine Wellness. I feed the PP GI for various reasons I’ve probably posted about. I think UltraCruz has an Equine Wellness formula that is supposed to be comparable, but cheaper. They also make a pellet, I think both in their regular wellness formula and their version of the CJ (I got a sample sent to me recently with another order).

thank you @IPEsq I come to agree about the CJ - price vs utility.

I think I am going to go with staying on the PP Equine and the Adequan… I might do the MSM as well.

Exceed 6 Way from MVP is a great choice. Affordable and hits support in a lot of areas. If your horse has bad arthritis or is having some lameness issues, I would try Adequan or Legend first. If you just want something for overall support, I would try a supplement first to see if it helps with overall comfort and freedom of movement. I also like the Smartpak joint supplement line, and Absorbine Flex Max.

Thank you @TWH Girl - we do know there is arthritis in his back, so while on a budget to pay off his vet bills, I am going to go with the PP Equine and the Adequan. I feel like it will be the best bang for my buck right now.
