Platinum Performance Osteon vs Other Recommendations? Soft tissue/bone support

Little Mare was just diagnosed with her second major soft tissue injury. She has torn her collateral ligament on her left front. Small tear, but still a definite tear. We’ll do stall rest, shockwave, slow rehab. She tore her DDFT on her right front two years ago. She also has navicular changes on her right front.

Looking at possible supplements to (hopefully) help support her seemingly fragile soft tissue, Platinum Performance Osteon comes up first in my searches. It also supports bone health, which could help any pain from her navicular changes. Has anyone used Osteon? Any other recommendations?

I have used it. Tried it when my horse had a DDFT injury. Put him back on it when he developed pedal osteitis, and just went through one more bucket with a broken splint bone.

Can’t say for sure if it helped, but it didn’t seem to hurt. All of these conditions/injuries have improved, but of course I also used other therapies, shoeing, etc. As far as cost goes, it seemed reasonable compared to some of the others.

The only down side is it’s quite a lot of powder. Not much of an issue for my horse who eats a mash with some beet pulp, even when he was on less grain when laid up. It doesn’t have much of an odor or anything so I assume not much taste, but depending on how you would feed it, you could have an issue with getting that much powder in, and when mixed with something like soaked beet pulp, it does create a little bit of a gritty texture.

I use Orthopur from HorseTech for my mare’s soft tissue and bone injuries. Can’t say for sure how much it helped but my vet was very pleased with how quickly and nicely she healed and he said to leave her on it for life (shes had 3 injuries to the same leg, all different but… so he wants to do whatever we can to protect that leg going into the future).

Anyway, Orthopur is a liquid, 1 oz a day, very reasonably priced.
