Please judge these NPA feet- post shoes

Yes, it’s not super dramatically camped under typically but lately it’s worse. He’s also very hi-lo grazing. Right front is pushed way further out than left front, so his front feet are uneven too (fixed with wedge on the low foot)

Ok, this may not be the best angle either but he just got reshod with a different farrier and I do feel like I see a clear difference without him even using a wedged shoe this time!

I do think those angles look better! Did the farrier discuss why the shoe is so short though? I would expect it to extend farther under the heel.

I was worried about how far back mine’s new shoes extended and the potential for him stepping on his own shoes again, so he now sports hind bell boots. Naturally, I still haven’t taken hoof pics…for no real reason. Just forgot when I was out this weekend. But he stands square behind a much larger percentage of the time and our one ride was promising (although hard to tell details of how he was feeling because he was high as a kite after 4 days off and then being ridden on a cool and windy day)

I’m not sure, I was wondering the same thing honestly but I just haven’t had a chance to ask yet. I’m certainly not very worried about him pulling his hinds-it’s the fronts that he tears up like nobody’s business.

He is also going to get his front feet corrected this week. His right front is typically much lower than his left, and he’s been getting it wedged up to correct but my vet isn’t happy with the changes made. He was just so bad on Friday that the farrier decided to come back and do the fronts a separate day.

Finally took some hind feet pics! Our equine PT came out this week and said the posture of his pelvis has totally changed and was really happy with his angles. I believe it was a 2 degree wedge on each hind. Now we are on a cardio program to regain fitness and adjust to new angles.

(Farrier had to work in the dark during the emergency shoeing, so the pads are maybe not perfectly finished and that’s fine)

This look nice, IMO! Especially if the positive effect has traveled upwards.

I wish that farrier was near me - I’d give them a shot myself

Thanks! They just look so much better to even my untrained eye.

The third horse in our barn was done by new farrier this week and it was the first time he hasn’t had meltdowns and peed multiple times while having his feet done in years. Unknown whether it was due to pain or the attitude/lack of patience of old farrier, but this is clearly better for everyone.

We have started bringing new farrier small gifts of food and flattery to secure the relationship  And tips. Forever tips.

That’s how to get it done! :joy:
