Please tell me about Andalusians

Having ridden many, many different breeds around the world, I agree. I have sat on horses that are fine having me on board but they carry me and look after themselves. It can be hard to make a connection with such an animal, though with time they come round. A Finn Horse was one such, very standoffish until it got to know me, then very willing and happy to have me around but he made the choice. By contrast, the Iberian horses I’ve ridden have been looking for partnership almost from the moment I’ve put my foot in the stirrup. One black mare in my memory whinnied in greeting when she saw me the day after I rode her and came straight over for a rub because we had had fun together the day before. She enjoyed both human company and the work she was doing at a riding vacation company.

Awww! That poor mare. I hope her heart wasn’t broken every time a rider she liked went home.

We rode past the stables she had been purchased from and she did not flick so much as an ear of recognition at her previous home. Her new owners commented that she had never looked back since they had owned her. She really enjoyed her new job.
