I usually ride english and there was alot of places to find clothes for me but im stumped as two the western side of life. most of the tack shops around me are english. thank you for you help in this matter

Show shirts for reining? Western pleasure? cutting?

Hobby Horse is a good starting place. Well fitting Western show clothing can be hard for anyone. I’ve been a plus sized rider for a long time. Even at my lower weight (I’m a yo yo) I have long arms and broad shoulders. It depends a lot on what events you are showing in and at what level. A starched tailored shirt that fits properly can take you a long way. There are a lot of sights on face book that offer resale. I’ve had good luck buying used and using a local seamstress to adjust the fit. Twenty years ago it was really difficult plus sized Western Show clothes were almost impossible to find, you had to find someone to do custom. Lisa Nelle makes beautiful jackets, I think to XXX. Hers are more expensive than Hobby Horse, but not as expensive as a lot of others.

Ebay

There are several sites that have consignment and new clothing, at lots of different price points. Showtime, Show Me Again, East Coast Show Clothing, Just Peachy, Sho N Off, Tack Trader (on Dreamhorse.com)to name a few. Most have facebook sites as well. If the clothing is there on consignment you can make a lower offer and they will contact the owner and see if they’ll accept your price. Also, the Pleasure Horse Journal’s forum has a section for show fashions for sale where you deal directly with the person selling the item via email. And Ebay, too, as already mentioned.

I know people who buy regular jackets or shirts and add the sparkle themselves. I’ve done it to a few items, and it’s easy and much more affordable.

Show Dressed Up has BEAUTIFUL shirts, completely made to measure, with many of the simpler ones under $150. She has some already made up into the plus sizes but will make you your very own for the same price. I mean NICE - you choose your fabric and style, and there are some bling options as well. The quality of her work is stellar, and her service is FAST. Her higher end stuff (the completely blinged out shirts) are absolutely gorgeous. Definitely go have a look at her pictures on FB and her website!
(and no, I wasn’t paid for this!)
