Do any of you have an all electric UTV for work around the farm? My Kubota is dying, and I’d like to look at the Polaris electrics. They cost a fortune, so I’d like to hear from someone who has one…
I would love to buy one. I had not heard about them before, but I for one will be looking.
I just bought my first electric car, and the freedom from regularly visiting gasoline stations is llife-altering for me. My desire to look at an electric UTV is even stronger today, as every nearby gas station I visited this afternoon for diesel fuel was out of diesel.
Save up. About $38K. :0
I have one of the original ones (2011). Wasn’t so expensive since it’s much more simple than the new Kinetic. I’ve replaced the (lead-acid) batteries twice (five years each set), but haven’t had any other issues with it. Maintenance is simple: charge first, check water level after on my batteries.
I’m not sure about the Kinetic, but my model does have some considerations for cold weather. Mine needs to be charged more frequently in cold weather, and either kept at full charge or plugged in when stored in below-freezing weather.
I’ve found it extremely capable and useful in general use, and I really like that I can bring it in the barn when the horses are in.

Ours is about 3yrs old and while we don’t do farm chores with it we’ve used it for just about everything else you can think of. Batteries have been fine (only added water twice I think) the range is good as long as you aren’t flooring it the whole time. When our dually broke down in the driveway we towed it back to the shop with it lol.
I purchased my JD 1025r and quite a few attachments for way less money. It’s compact and super useful.
I looked at the UTV but my small tractor is much more useful.
Deere 1025R tractor owner here , with mid-mount mower, brush hog, box blade, chain harrow, Woodland Mills PTO chipper, FEL with BXExpanded Piranha tooth bar, Drag N Fly 3-
point arena groomer, single point hydraulic connector, subsoiler plow, pallet forks, and a few other goodies.
I also have a Kawasaki Mule with a hydraulic dump bed, bought when I found that there were things the little tractor could not do as well as a UTV.
Mule bed holds 4 tractor bucket loads of dirt or manure, so loading 4 full buckets into it using the tractor or by hand when mucking eliminates multiple tractor trips to dump. Tractor top speed is 9 mph; Mule is 25 mph which means significant time savings hauling manure to my community central manure dumpster site every day.
And the UTV seats two, so we can use it over our private paved roads to visit other farms.
The Deere subcompact tractor has its strong points. But a UTV definitely fills a niche for me. I am happy to have both the tractor and the UTV.
We bought the smallest gas Polaris a few years ago. We got this size because in addition to the farm my husband hauls it to deer and duck camp. It costs under $10,000 and has been outstanding.
steelerino, thanks. That’s exactly the kind of info I was looking for. I would use it primarily to pull my small manure spreader.
