Pony Finals 2015

sarcam02, is that the lady in the skirt & hat taking photos with the ribbon winners? I thought the same thing: how sweet thart she has a smile for each kid and a pat for every pony! I even saw her run her hand down the length of one pony as he walked away like she’d have been happy to stand with him all day.

It is indeed - she is sweet and even keeled for all

Ut oh, there was just a very unhappy pony! I can’t see the number so not sure who it is but just did not want to listen and kept breaking canter.

Does anyone know if the feed will be available on demand? I missed today but wouldn’t mind it as entertainment later tonight.

Yes that’s her! We’re a little disappointed with how low respectable scores are placing, but what can you do when you’re up against Grand Prix riders that decide they want to do the large ponies for a bit. Ah well, it’s a shame there’s no next year for us.

I don’t recognize any names of folks who are also competing at the Grand Prix level this year. Junior hunters and hunter derbies, yes, but not the open jumpers.

Def at least child/adult jumpers and big eq. I get that it’s legal, it just seems a bit of an unfair advantage.

There’s three that I can name off the top of my head: Gia Rinaldi, Addison Piper, and Morgan Ward have all done the junior jumpers, and I know that Gia has done the Grand Prixs. And then the numerous at the junior hunters and taking high options in hunter derbies plus the big eq and children’s jumpers, I’m not saying that it isn’t legal, just a bit disappointing for those of us that are a one pony per child family. Then again, Daisy Farish did show in the mediums (or medium greens?) last year so, I’ve seen worse jumps down.

This show really seems like a prime candidate for an Owner To Ride split. They don’t even have to run a separate class, just keep going down the scores until 12 (or whatever #) OTRs have been placed. Kid could get a 6th against the Big Dogs and simultaneously win the OTR split.

I think they already give out an award to the top owner-rider, might as well place the top twenty, especially when there’s 122 in the division. Or they could just start pinning Betsee Parker’s ponies in their own division. “The Betsee Parker Pony Finals”

That’s a good idea! Some of those kids in the small greens were huge too! I know it’s the greens and they need a good pony jock on them but when they walked their ponies in for ribbons in the model some of those girls towered over their pony not to mention their weight. I guess suitability is no longer a requirement?

The last couple of judging clinics I went to, they really discouraged using suitability. I for one, think it should count, but I don’t get to make the rules.

Seems like that’s one of the one things they SHOULD be encouraging since I’m pretty sure it’s something written in the rulebook.

They have Owner Rider awards for the top overall, just not for each individual class. They’ve been doing it five years or so.

suitability is a slippery slope. Where is the line between suitability and adding to self image issues. Usually if the kid is too big, the pony doesn’t go as well anyway.
