Easy question, just need someone who’s done the process before. How do you go about requesting a measurement at a show? I’ve read all of the USEF rules and forms but can’t find that little piece of info. How early in advance does it need to be done in the show week if the pony is showing Saturday/Sunday? Anything else I should do so things run smoothly? Appreciate the help!
The show prize list will have information on when the steward/vet are conducting measurements.
I couldn’t find much of anything on the prize list or website. Should’ve mentioned in the original post but pony’s first venue is WEC Ohio.
Ask the show office before you arrive that you need a pony measured for the division while you’re there. The measurement will need to be done with a vet and the show steward, and before the division begins. The office should help you schedule it.
You will not want to be pulling pony fresh out of its stall for the measurement, instead make sure it’s handwalked for a good while before the measurement appointment. Also, have your paperwork filled out when you arrive - it speeds things up. Good luck!
At WEC Ohio, we normally measure at 1PM on Thursdays in Barn A by the vet. When you check in, let the office know you have a pony to be measured and pick up the paperwork. We can be flexible on the actual date and time, but that’s the scheduled day/time. If you have any additional questions regarding the process, just get in touch with one of the stewards, and we can help you out.
