I have a grey pony with melanomas, and last month she started itching her tail. She has always had a really thick tail, but now it’s very thin and stringy. Today, I noticed that she has rubbed the inside of her stifle. I plan to put a tail bag on her, but I know that won’t stop the irritation. I have MTG to apply to her legs. What can I do for the under her tail?
I’d probably ask my veterinarian about this.

If she’s rubbing under her tail I would try fenbendazole for pinworms. They are pretty resistant to ivermectin.
She could have a big bite allergy… Or tick bites or something bothering her. Itchy horses can be difficult to figure out.
