PONY sized Double Bridle...where are they?

I have a section B gelding who, though he is almost 14.2, takes a true “pony” sized bridle rather than cob. I’ve only found one reasonably priced on the HORZE website, but the three straps for the caveson and both bit hangers are stacked/cut from one piece of leather, and I am concerned that that would be too bulky between the eye and ear for my guy.

Any suggestions for a nice, but not insanely expensive, true pony sized double? I’ve looked on dressage extensions (nada), smartpak (nada), eBay (one cheap one)

I know i could just hang a bridoon from one of my older snaffle bridles, but if there’s a nice mono crown out there for my little guy, I want to know!

Flexible fit in Australia should have one (or let you assemble parts for one) as ponies in doubles is quite common in the ridden hunters in AUS. Price should be reasonable too.

20x60 also has pony sized bridles, and they’ll mix and match parts if you need a bigger browband etc.

Check out the beautiful bridles from Belle Equestrian in Australia. http://www.belleequestrian.com.au/weymouth-bridles
I just ordered the Noble double bridle for my horse and it is stunning! Really nice quality. I got my bridle on a pre-Christmas sale for 50% off. The company is absolutely fabulous to work with. The prices that you see on the site all include tax and there are a number of models that are still on sale. Shipping was about $70 for 5 day express shipping to Canada.

What is your budget? There are some lovely options in the ~ $500 range if you’re willing to order from Europe. All of the Otto Schumacher bridles are available in pony size, but will typically be a custom order.

Some US option are:
~ $400 - Jerry’s. https://jerrysharnessshop.com/index.php/products-for-sale/new-cart2/product/124-wb-ps

You’ll need to order a custom size. This would be my first choice if it’s in your price range. They have lovely stuff!

~ $150 - Delfina - http://www.delfinasaddlery.com/Bridles-Reins-Parts-Accessories/Dressage-Bridles/Delfina-CUSTOM-Padded-Dressage-Bridle-p80.html

I’ll give you a heads up that I had issues with them a few years back where I never got a backordered girth or a refund. However, if your item is in stock, they are good quality for the money and will mix and match sizes.

~ $425 - Hastilow - http://www.hastilowusa.com/bridles/hastilow-pony-double-bridle.html#/product/59

I don’t have any first hand experience with them, but it looks like a stock item.

Farys,
How did you get notified of the sale? I love the produce, but would love them more if %50 off! Right now I don’t see anything referring to a sale on the site…

I agree with the Jerrys recommend.

If you really want to invest in a quality bridle that fits well, they have great customer service. you can take the measures and talk to them about the needs

getting the wrong bridle leaves you with a small bridle which will be challenging to sell on.

Fennell’s make them, call them. Does not come with Browband, I found the traditional dressage bridles to thick and cumbersome and prefer the thinner less bulky look.

Look on JustForPonies.com. I found this Bobby’s double bridle there, and it is even reasonably priced:

Check out Tailwind Farm in Eagle, WI in Facebook. There is a pic of a friend’s pony with a Red Barn Pony Weymouth bridle. He is 14.1 with a true pony head also.

I found the Red Barn/KL Select one. It’s ~ $400. http://www.klselect.com/bridles/dressage-bridles/red-barn-centerline/

Bobby’s is decent for the money, but that one doesn’t have a monocrown.

I follow the company on Facebook. All the sales are posted there. It was a 7 day sale right before Christmas. Their stuff goes on sale often so definitely keep watch. The pictures on the site do not do them just at all. Absolutely stunning products.

I purchased the Bobby’s double bridle from just for ponies three years ago. It still looks brand new and I was able to customize it because they sell check pieces for the bridle that come in different sizes. I love it but I also did not need a monocrown, just a double that would accommodate a 13 hand pony’s head.
