Pony/warmblood crosses?

that is a lovely lovely mare. wow.

I have a The Breas My Mobitiy licensed son named Manchester City. Full brother to Manchester United, who was Champion Weser-Ems stallion in 2010. My colt named Manchester City, has perfect foundation and 32 perfect x-rays! He is also a super mover and has the most outstanding temperament. I am SO tempted to show him in the Young Horse Classes as he would be a force to be reckoned with! And My rider is the perfect size (-:

The Braes My Mobility son Mad Max WE, won the Bundeschampionate in the Five Year Old Pony Class this year. And there was another super son that was second at Rastede. These pony move better than many of my warmblood foals…unfortunately (-:

Wanted to add a link to the Family Coldewey’s website.

And a link to Manchester United now owned my Sprehe.

Have just begun a page for Manchester City.

I for sure have the “bug” and intend on pursuing it!
I just wanted to tell you how much I really like your young stallion and wondered if you would be test breeding him next season? Also how tall is he and how tall do you expect him to be.
Post picies :)…Wanna see both…only reasonable!
here is my mare:

she is by Wolkentanz I out of a Sir Ivor granddaughter.
she has really nice movement and is a nice size (16h)

i would love to get something similar to her, just smaller and a stronger loin connection/hind end.

i have a list of about 5 stallions that i drool over. number 1 on my list of Conns is Bien Mallins Rory O’Sullivan - he is a 13.3 h pony from canada. I LOVE him.

there are also some others that i have on my list  it is very hard to decide!

btw: what is “foundation” ? never heard that term before

foundation = legs

i bred my very typey Hanoverian mare to a Section B Welsh, the result is our NASPR sportpony stallion Hot Shot MRF

Goodpony, Manchester City sticks at 145cm. Have been told by those much more in the “know”, he should end up about 147cm. So just a bit under full size.

We are fortunate to have Select Breeders Services at a reasonable distance, so will do test collections in early Spring. I am going to breed a mare to him as is his co-owner and we have a third interested.

This is a great thread! I’m lovin’ all the pictures of these beautiful ponies! Talk about eye candy!!!

This is Bella Sandra, purchased at the Elite Vechta Auction and Champion of the Elite Foal Championships. She is sired by Charivari (Constantin) and out of a Sandro Hit mare. She is currently in foal to our young, 3 year old stallion, Diamond King:

I’m really looking forward to this spring when we will have an Olympic Ferro X Halifax foal on the ground! That should be awesome! A great small horse dressage prospect for sure:

Crosiadore, I’m a fan of your young boy! The pictures on your new page look great. Are you currently showing him? From the picture it looks like you’ve been winning with him already!?!

Foxcreek,

The photo was from Manchester City’s Inspection with the GOV. I felt badly he did not have a ribbon to wear after being Licensed, so I used the Champion MPT ribbon from my Samarant mare to put on him…not kosher, but Chester deserved to feel special (-: I adore this pony!!

I have a wonderful mare bred by Trevelyn Farm that is by Forrest Flame out of a Grand prix Trak. mare Zauberelle. She is oversize at 15.1hh and an amazing mover.

I have bred two very special colts by Wedderlie Mardi Gras out of an imported WB mare (15.2hh). These palamino boys are developing into very nice young ponies and look to likely stay top of the line larges.

lovely mare!

this is the type of mare i would love to produce from my WB mare x pony… i know i will get something nice, i just have to pick the right boy!

btw: do you have any further info on Bennos dream and FS Don’t Worry - they are also on my list of “interesting” for my mare

FS Don’t Worry - is one of the most popular performance breeding pony stallions in Germany. He produces a lot of rideability and good movement. However - he is not known for producing typey offspring. Often they are rather “plain” and not the most beautiful. But good rideability. Most are tall as he is an endmass pony himself- and bred to a WB mare, or any mare bigger than 14 hands - you will get an oversize. He has literally hundreds of offspring, since he has been breeding for 10 or 11 years, and it is pretty easy to google and find videos.

iam sorry! i meant FS daily Hero  I know FS Don’t Worry is popular etc as i have spent much time stalking him online lol!

I am not worried about staying under 148… i just want something smaller than 16h that is basically my mare with pony attributes

FWIW There are two lovely FS Daily Hero offspring very close to me. They were produced out of the same GRP mare (bought in Europe a few years ago for the owner’s daughter who lost interst) through ET. I absolutely adore one of them. I have not put a stick on the one (know the owner and use her facility fairly regularly) but strongly suspect over 14.2 as a 3 year old. The other one is also very nice and definitely pony height. Carried a very young child around up-down classes this year as a newly backed 3 year old, was/is a saint for the child. The mare, though registered GRP is around 15 hands or so. Owner bred the mare to a Dutch Riding pony and produced two more the following year through ET. They are both very nice but I suspect they will both go over 14.2. As I said the one from the first crop would be in my barn if (a) it were for sale and (b) I had the cash to do the welsh cob thing AND collect a riding pony or two.

I am SO there (on the other side of 50!) Ponies have always been appealing to me…but now more than ever.
I have a gorgeous 2y.o. WB/TB filly who will be 16H tops. I have plans for her to be my driving horse. Her TB dam has had 7 foals, and has “given” to the stallion in terms of height every time, whether bred to a 16H or 17.2H stallion…so I am hoping the same might be true for her daughter when bred to a pony.
Are there any pony lines that excel in the driving disciplines? The problem I find with most of the sport ponies is that they are so very close to the line, height-wise.

What would you all expect the differences to be between breeding a pony stallion to a WB mare and vice verse?

I have based my decision to breed a Connemara mare to a Hanoverian based on the quality of the mare and the fact that she has produced quality purebred offspring (and IMO improved on the stallion). I also really liked all the offspring out of pony mares that Garner Creek has produced. But I see that the majority have been sired by ponies out of WB mares (and in the USA, many are lesser quality mares). My goal would be a high quality Connemara mare with a very high quality stallion.

Would the offspring likely be more pony like? Be smaller? Make no difference at all?

lovely mare!

Thanks mbm!!! She’s one of my favorites too!

SURE! They are both available for breeding again. They are both very rideable, very kind pony stallions. Benno’s Dream is a 4th level schoolmaster now basically retired to the breeding shed. He won the Heidelburg Cup in Florida and I believe is the only pony in the awards history to do so. FS Daily Hero has 3 very correct gaits. He follows his sire in type, but having said that…there is a reason FS Don’t Worry has been the most successful pony dressage stallion in Germany with hundreds of very successful offspring.

Both stallions were champions of their Licensing and Stallion Performance Tests.

I hope this gives you a little more information. I will send you a direct email also.

I have not found predictable differences in the offspring, whether going WB stallion to pony mare or pony stallion to WB mare. Particular individuals may prove to be more prepotent for a certain type or mature size, but it does seem to depend on which of the two is the more prepotent one and what they are prepotent for.

Thanks. The Connemara mare is 14.1hh and produced my pony who is 14.2hh+ with shoes on (and by a 13.3hh stallion). Her sire is 15hh. I am thinking that with her producing larger than herself with a pony smaller than her, it is likely I will get 15hh+ with a 16hh stallion.

But then I suppose you never know!

PP: Garner Creek Farm, www.garnercreekfarms.com, has been breeding purebred Connemara mares to Hanoverian stallions for a number of years now. I know that the farm owner, Sharon, shows some of her partbreds herself, and one of her mares won some young dressage horse classes. I think the mare was 15.2/15.3ish. There was an article in the Chronicle about her within the last year.
