Poor business practices? Sleipnir Saddlery/Amanda Anderson
Yes, a saddle rack can affect flocking and even foam. The cheap metal ones are some of the worst. It’s just like if you were sitting in the edge of a lawn chair or some such. You get up with an indentation in the back of your thigh. Your leg bounces back, the flocking on your saddle does not. Over time, it can be an issue. This is why I prefer would rack with 1 x 4s that make full contact over the panel.
Alterwhattodo? and RugBug,
Thank you for the intel. This was something that I did not know. You both have saved me from making a easily preventable mistake. COTH rocks!

There are absolutely great cheaper options but… I do looooooooove my saddle mattresses…

I just finished through all seven pages. OP- I am so sorry you’re going through this. Having your horse unhappy and hurting sucks, and then when you realize that it’s something that you chose to do, even worse. (I’ll tell you a story about my gelding and bute another day)

Something that kind of has my hackles up is the fact that she is using this “Not For Profit” and “Giving to the soldiers” as an advertising tool. I sent freezer pops and cookies to my husband’s squadron while they were flying over Iraq. Can I call that “buuuutttt, I giiiivvveee to the soldiers!” What you do on your own time is your business. Unless you can show me IRS paperwork, then don’t use that in your advertising. You do three HeroBoxes? You mean you sent three HeroBoxes ever? That hardly makes you not for profit.

I find your use of MY husband, MY best friend, and the people in our world insulting. Do not use MY people as your advertising.

sincerely,
a military wife who does not appreciate soldiers being used for advertising

http://www.saddlemattress.com/
Oh no…personalized! How did I not know about these???

My pictures were removed from the site last night (and as of this morning the entire site is down) plus I received an emailed apology from the fitter.

Thank you to everyone who has responded to my thread, I really appreciate all of the assistance and suggestions!

ETA adding text from email for future reference (note that she "replied" to my string of emails where I had requested, and she was saying too bad so sad, they are staying up so YAY for the power of COTH :) ). And *sigh* to continued comments, but whatever, my pictures are down and I'm thrilled.

Per your request, I have taken down your pictures and offer you an apology. I reacted poorly to the continued comments I have received since September. I wish you a wonderful and prosperous life.

Sincerely, Amanda

Awesomeness! I’m really glad.

Great news.

Impressed at the apology too.

Good, I am glad she decided to do the right thing in the end.

Wow! Those are nice. Compared with the cost of even a good used a saddle, the saddle matresses are not all that unreasonably priced.

Congratulations!
I have to admit that I was not expecting the saddle fitter to display that much maturity. Good for her for (finally) stepping up and doing the right thing.

I’m with you! I never expected her to do the right thing. I’m glad she stepped up. I’m sorry OP had to go through any of this and sorry it took a COTH thread to get the post and pictures removed but at least it happened.

Shall we wait around and see what new name her business pops up under in a few months?
