Poor Poor Seger...

I haven’t been following this situation with MJ’s horse Seger as I haven’t been on the BB very much lately. I first read of it’s death yesterday.

But I am very very sad today to have heard of some facts involving the death of this horse. I AM being judgemental in that this type of situation was avoidable. I love all animals and cannot belive something like this could be allowed to happen.

I am physically shaking from this. To be honest, I think I am going to cry.

MJ isn’t telling the true story and she really should not continue to shade the facts. She should tell the truth.

Flame me if you must for not showing more compassion to MJ, but if you knew what happened, well you’d be shaking too.

I have good reason to believe what I heard is the truth. Very very sad…

I was away from the board for a while, so I am totally clueless. What happened??

And I suppose you have physical evidence that that is how Seger died. You have contacted MJ’s vet then? That was the vet’s prognosis? I had no idea you were intimately involved in the happenings of MJ’s life.

I really have no desire to get into a BB argument. I despise them.

I just think that MJ is the only one that knows the true facts and needs to answer to herself - not any of us.

I would doubt that that sort of reasoning would be available to M_J.

So suffice it to say for all the people that truly do ANYTHING possible for their horses, there will be that one person that just doesn’t “get” the total responsibility we take on as their caretakers.

I would only hope that she get the kind of help she needs to understand this.

“The older I get, the better I used to be, but who the heck cares!”

for having the courage to speak up and let people know that the “poor poor pitifual” situation wasn’t as it was presented. I am deeply saddened by this, and am going to go hug my little black horse and cry with him. I pray every day that he lived through our ordeal, but that others aren’t so lucky. I had a bumper sticker on my car that said “stupidity should be painful”-it shouldn’t be painful to those who can’t do anything about it, or painful to those of us who have to hear about the suffering. May God forgive…

Chef, you are correct in that none of us were there to witness first-hand the events that led to Seger being put down and nothing can be done to change that now. However, MJ DOES have to answer to someone besides herself - she has to answer to the animals that are (were) in her care. There are reasons the ASPCA was created . . .

so will we ever get clued into the truth?

I hope this horse didn’t die in vain, perhaps his death can prevent others?

<It’s all part of my ninja training >

My questions is still where were the parents during all this. Even non-horsepeople should have seen a problem, especially when their 16 year old daughter is trying to pay all expenses for two horses.

Sad situation all the way around.

Behind every good woman lies a trail of men

If true, and had it happened in NY, this could be handled as a felony.

There might be more to learn here the basic animal care.

=^+^=

I have tried not to get involved here but I just have to quote justbay.

<BLOCKQUOTE class=“ip-ubbcode-quote”><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR> I have good reason to believe what I heard is the truth <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

so you have HEARD? So you do not PERSONALLY KNOW the FACTS FIRST-HAND?

How dare you make judgements! I would never wish this upon anybody but I hope that one day you are thrust into MJ’s position and you can feel her pain. Maybe you would be more sympathetic!

<BLOCKQUOTE class=“ip-ubbcode-quote”><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>I think MJ needs to take reponsibility and tell the BB what happened.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Since when have you or any of us become the BB God? MJ doesn’t need to answer to any of us! She needs to answer to herself and if she knows she did what she could for Seger than that is all that matters.

We do what we can for our horses. We try to keep them confortable and happy and well fed. Seger was lucky to be in a caring home until the end.
Story:
My horse needed surgery to keep him alive. Of course plenty of time money and effort was spent to keep him alive. He died several hours after surgery after attempting to stand and breaking both his legs. He must have been in a lot of pain and I cry everytime I think about it. It would have been better in the long run not to even attmept the surgery and put him down instead of having to make him suffer.

Seger could have been in for a lot worse. You just can’t ever know for sure. Unless you have some magical power to always know the “truth” and forsee the future, I hope you mind your own bussiness. Oh yeah - since you are the BB God, I suppose its entirely possible.

If we can shift gears for a second and generalize the discussion…

That someone would emotionally manipulate the kind and compassionate (horse)people on this BB by effectively fabricating a story is terribly angering; that one was complicit in the death of the horse while simultaneously, and actively, seeking other’s pity, is nauseating.

Chef, your struggle with your horse is an experience shared by many on this BB; and your efforts and heartbreak are representative of the depth of responsibility that most of us feel towards our horses. That’s why people are so very upset and angered.

That we max out our credit cards, eat Kraft dinner for months, travel great distances, to seek and afford the best veterinary care available for our ailing horses – that’s quite the different exercise

Justbay, I applaud you. Chef, I tried to email you but you don’t list your address. Suffice it to say, Justbay is telling the truth and I support her for having the guts to “say it out loud.”

M_J, I do feel badly for you but I sure as spit wouldn’t be playing up the poor me thing right now. And, I sure as spit hope you get some solid advice on how to properly care for an animal.

There are no words to express what I am thinking right now (which is probably a good thing) The saddest part is, there are so many wonderful people on this BB that would have been willing to help the poor horse

Um, does M_J own other horses?

I haven’t been following this situation with MJ’s horse Seger as I haven’t been on the BB very much lately. I first read of it’s death yesterday.

All right, that’s enough.

None of us were there, none of us know the facts, and I’m sorry, but the rule is that allegations cannot be made on the BB unless they have appeared in print (i.e. in a newspaper) or charges have been filed in court.

Those rules exist for a reason, and those of you who have been around a long time might remember a certain trainer’s name being ERRONEOUSLY associated with a “stolen” horse on the BB. There are no exceptions to this rule.

If MJ wants to provide more facts, she’s welcome to do so. She doesn’t have to. I’m told that people who WERE there and DO know MJ are talking with her about what happened. I’m sure that those who know MJ can do a lot more good than a bunch of us yakking on a BB.

You all are welcome to ask for more information, as people have been doing on the other thread. But to make accusations like that simply is NOT going to be allowed.

Thread closed. If you have problems with this (and I’m sure some of you will), email me.

Thank you for being courageous enough to take it “one step further.”

This is a very sad situation and may be something best handled privately. Yes, MJ got the boards involved, but the present circumstances are beyond that now, and there may be more immediate concerns that are best left to be dealt with by people who are personally and directly involved.

I’m not going to lock this thread because I have no idea what is the right thing to do. Erin may have a different view. This is not a criticism of you, JustBay – many people are torn up about this. I do know that it will not serve any good to get into a back and forth sniping at one another about personal sensitivities or who has the right to criticize. So please, let’s all try to avoid that. My personal feeling is that it should be handled privately, but that’s just me.
