Pop-Up Ads at Bottom of Screen

BuddyRoo, install this: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/?src=cb-dl-users
Talk about ANNOYING, ARGHHHH!!! This just started on my screen and I’m pi$$$ed about it.
I’m ready to swear off reading Cloth altogether—the pop up pops up with every discussion I open and sometimes two or three times while I am reading a single discussion.

I got a pop-up before I even logged in this morning. Ridiculous.
I’ve had it with that truck pop-up ad! Can anyone recommend a pop-up ad blocker for a MacBook Pro? Won’t bother me to have all ads blocked if that is what it takes.
adblocker plus and use mozilla

eta: sorry i see you are on a mac - i dont know the answer that that one…
I have an ad blocker and I still get the popup at the bottom intermittently.
make sure you dont have an exception for COTH - check the settings…

Well, I posted on Facebook that I would never buy a Dodge for any reason after this experience. Same for John Deere. Then I wrote John Deere and Dodge telling them the same thing.

THis is UGLY and annoying beyond belief!

I am now planning on installing Ad block also because of these bottom ads. I can’t stand them and like others my font goes dim once I click the x. I am using explorer.

I have stopped viewing COTH from my mobile device because I can’t get rid of the pop-ups and I can’t view anything else on the screen when they appear.

I have gone and posted a link to this thread on the Facebook page of every advertiser that I have seen pop-up on my screen.

I finally have had enough of this BS and installed AdBlock (I’m on Google Chrome).

It’s a first-world problem, but it’s annoying, and it’s (at least for me at home) easily remedied. I’m bummed that COTH misses out on the possible ad, revenue, though…I rather liked some of the sidebar ads.

On my iPhone 4 (iOS 6), this pop up is almost impossible to get rid of, though.

Still there!!!

Now I’m getting this prior to the RAM pop up:

A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.

Script: http://www.chronofhorse.com/forum/showthread.php?t=372112:22

Have not installed anything else yet–just saw your post Simkie but haven’t tried it yet. This script issue just started today. Firefox 16.0.1 on a Windows XP box here at work.

Every. Single. Page.

I can’t believe something which is so clearly affecting the desire of any of us to actually use the site, and causing so many to block ALL ads is still there. It’s very simple to turn off the ads altogether, as it’s not a problem with one ad, but the entire thing.

I’ve gotten this a lot.

Right now it’s popping up on every page. And freezing my brand new fricken computer - holy annoying.

Can the Mods please update??

I never get script errors when using Firefox 16.0 with the AdBlock Plus plug in I linked earlier. I do occasionally see them when I use IE, although I can’t say I’ve ever seen them on this site (I use IE very rarely.)

Will you please stop the Dodge ads? 5 times in less than a minute!! I can not make it go away!

Yeah, I was willing to ignore it when they were only popping up occasionally, but this is getting ridiculous. The Dodge ad is popping up every time I change pages and it’s pissing off my browser.

At this point, I’m willing to pay to make it go away. Not kidding.

I don’t have any further information to provide other than we’ve contacted the ad developer for assistance and sent them a link to this thread for their input. The new type of ad was essentially a trial, which obviously has caused significant issue for some users, and that message has been received clearly.

I’ve sent a message to our tech crew and those in the main office for a status update on the issue, and we’ll hopefully have some info or help for you soon.

Please remember to provide your Internet browser and version when registering a complaint, so our tech crew can attempt to replicate the issue to determine what is causing it.

Thanks,
Mod 1

Simple solution: Get rid of those creepy, creeping ads and have the advertisers stick to side-bar ads.

I’m sorry, but if you think it’s the browsers, you’re not getting it at all.

The ads need to go. Period.

Users, potentially on different browsers, are evidently having very different experiences in terms of ad frequency, display characteristics, and functionality, so that information will be helpful for the developers.

If some users are getting the ad 10x a minute, and others, like myself, for example, are getting it maybe once in 10 minutes, then that raises some questions we’d like to look into.

I’m not personally involved in ad sales and management, so I can’t speak to the ability to simply kill an advertising package in the midst of a run that has been contractually agreed to and paid for.

That’s why I noted I’d contacted the main office for further update.

Thanks,

I’ve been told that the ad developers will be improving the visibility/accessibility of the close button today.

We believe the issues some users are experiencing with the ad appearing constantly on every page can be avoided by having you close the ad when it pops up. If you don’t do that, it will “follow” you to the next page.

I can assure you that the main office has heard your feedback on this trial and is discussing it both internally and with the company serving the ads.

We obviously have to find ways to pay for hosting this site, but it doesn’t make sense to use methods that make people not want to or unable to visit the site.

Thanks for your patience as we address your concerns.
