Popeye K @ KWPN inspection?

Does anyone know how Popeye K did at KWPN today at Iron Spring Farm? I was curious how he scored and what everyone thought.

Thanks!

I wish I had been able to go.
Rachel said he was a good boy, and everyone has to give Tommy credit for performing his first ever dressage test in front of an apparently large audience :).
I don’t know anything about scores, I thought she said they had to wait for that information?

why a dressage test? I thot he’d be going for their hunter stallion program.

He was required to do dressage, jump, and freejump for the inspection, as well as do gaits at liberty. I have no knowledge of inspection process, so I do not know what is typical or what would change in the process depending on the horse’s actual discipline.

Popeye was a very good boy at the inspection. It was actually quite amusing to see Tommy Serio ride a dressage test on Popeye in his jumping saddle with his short stirrups in his hunter seat. (I have pics…will post later)

Popeye, of course, was awesome over the fences under saddle and free jumping. He looked great and took it all in such good stride. What an amazing horse

I saw Popeye K’s dressage test only, I must say he was my favorite stallion there ( and I’m a dressage person!) He was well behaved, and a joy to watch.
Kudos to the rider for his first dressge test, exactly how many loops was that serpentine?!? lol Lisa

I think it is really funny about the “dressage” test. I evented for years and just rode my horse like a hunter. My hunter trainer -(who I still ride with 25 years later) said a “broke horse is a broke horse” and I usually won the flat when I switched to the hunter ranks for good…just let the nose poke out a little further.lol!!

Aw I wish I could have stayed to watch!!! I walked by his stall while they were tacking him up and he kept weasling his nose through the door trying to open it. He’s such a cutie!!

I think he felt in this case more was better than less  .

I was there yesterday and Popeye was indeed great. Tommy Serio did a great job of course. As a hunter rider, it was fun to watch Tommy do the dressage test. I also loved that after the dressage test, Tommy stopped to talk to someone as he walked out of the ring and Popeye promptly put his head down to munch some grass. (A number of the other horses there found the dressage area a bit spookie I think, but not Popeye.) Popeye looked fantastic over fences and in the free jump.

I believe that the KWPN jury has to wait for the results of all of the other parts of the process (x-rays, performance record certification, DNA tests …) before they can announce results or scores.

Just having a blonde moment is Popeye K going for approval into the hunter book or looking to be approved into the main book.

What other stallions were presented?

Looking forward to seeing photos!!!

Incredible recovery by Tommy Serio. It was supposed to be a 3 loop serpentine. He was off a little on his calculations and was halfway through his 4th loop when he heard the reader call a movement from C to M to B to F. He took a quick look up and realized he was coming in to C from the wrong direction. He quietly slipped in a 5th loop and finished the test. If you hadn’t heard the reader call the movements, it was so quietly done you wouldn’t even know he was off.

Sounds like a Great showing for Popeye…however what others were present, and where can we go to view the results for everyone?

I hope COTH writes it up well. I wish they’d profile him (Popeye). Did I miss that somewhere? I’d really like to see full color pictures and stuff. He’s such an industry leader/icon. Much to learn about the top of the top, if only one could SEE.

Say, he does WEF, doesn’t he? Maybe I’ll get to see him that way.

I love Popeye… I rode him while he was at Ian Millars (I use to work for him) before his big win at the Royal.

Amazing elastic and neat horse!

Popeye K was a super good boy and I’m sure he made the Hunter studbook of the KWPN-NA. Talking with Popeye’s owner, she mentioned that Tommy was nervous about doing the dressage portion and that the ring they practiced in wasn’t nearly as long as the regulation-size dressage ring at Iron Spring. It was fun to watch!

Siegi,
If there were other stallions, can you tell us who they were?

Hoping someone will post photos soon of Popeye K.

And any other results.

Oakstable - the other two stallions presented were Obadiah (Fairplay x Trapper), a 10-year old, and Voodoo (Ferro x Animo).

Thanks. Did you see the mares by Iroko jump?
