Possible yeast infection in female dog

My dog is a 5 YO female Llewellin setter in perfect health. She recently had an exam because she was acting kind of weird, but that turned out to be inconclusive. I turned her over this evening and noticed an awful smell that seems to be coming from her vagina.

She has been spayed and has never had puppies. Could this be a yeast infection? I’m going to take her to the vet this week, but was curious if anyone else has had this happen. Any ideas on how to treat?

The vet tells me that my 8 year old spayed collie has an inverted vulva. This means that not only does she leak urine, she is very prone to infections. The last time she was cultured she was growing yeast, enterobacter and pseudomas. If I don’t put her in the tub every 3 or 4 days and wash her backside she’ll start to get a really awful smell (because of the leaking urine) If she still smells after a few baths, off to the vet we go because that means she has an infection.

This isn’t much help to you, but I do feel your pain.

Any chance it could be her anal glands?

I had the same with my female lab and tuned out to be her anal glands
