Is it possible to post to a forum via an email?
thanks,
Mike Arnold.

Hi Mike ~
I’m not exactly sure what you mean. You have to be logged into your COTH forums account in order to post to a thread–some folks can log in and post via their phones, which have web browsing capabilities, if that’s of any help.
If that doesn’t answer your question, please provide some more details here or in a private message to me, and we’ll see if we can help.
Thanks!

Thanks for your reply.
As a part of an effort to document and retain complete & detailed results for driving events, I have created a site . When supported by the event itself, I post the results at the end of each competition day.
After posting the results, I notify a number of different ‘communities’, the Carriage Driving List (CD-L), COTH Driving, a results blog, a Twitter account and another cell phone messaging network (SnapSnapMessage). See http://www.chronicleforums.com/Forum/showthread.php?t=223433 for an example posting to COTH Driving.
The notification process takes longer than posting the results, so I am looking for ways to automate that process. Various tools will allow me to automate the blogs & tweets, and email will let me automate the CD-L posting, but I am still looking for a way to automate the COTH posting.
There is at least one (old) addition to vBulletin that will allow posting a reply from email. I am not very familiar with vBulletin, so am not sure if this is a standard option now or not.
So, I was looking to see if the COTH implementation of vBulletin would support email posting.
thanks,
Mike.
Thanks for the further explanation, Mike!
vBulletin doesn’t offer or support that feature as a standard option. There are some code modifications that have been written by outside parties to allow that functionality, but we have not implemented any of them at this time.
If anyone else would like to add their comments re: having a feature like this one, feel free. We’ll share whatever interest there is with the main office, in regards to changes we could make in the future.
Thanks for the question/feedback.

Personally, I think we should keep “results” separate from “discussion”.
Driving is a smaller community, without a lot of competitions (in comparison with other disciplines).
But can you imagine what it would be like if LOTS OF dressage shows sent in their results to the Dressage forum, (or Eventing, or Hunter/Jumper)? You would have difficulty finding the discussions amoungst the results.
If there is a desire for the results on Chronicleforums (as oppposed to on Chronofhorse), then it should be a separate forum.
Have you tried scrolling over to the right next to the “Discussion Forums” heading and clicking the button to uncollapse it? Looks like 2 little arrows pointing down in a blue circle. When the forums are all listed, it changes so the arrows are pointing up.
