Power and Speed Class Question

While watching the WEF live stream, I was curious as to why so many riders retire in the speed portion of the power and speed classes. Could someone please fill me in?

ETA: They are clean in the power portion and then RT in the speed

They are likely just using the class as as schooling round to expose the horses to the ring and see how they are feeling. Save the extra jumping efforts for the bigger classes later in the week.

ETA: I assume these horses jumped clear in the power portion. If they had a rail they can’t continue to the speed phase if it’s a 2.c class.

I only see one WD in the results, if I’m looking at the right class. are you sure they were clean in the power? You can’t move on to the speed if you aren’t clean.

They are clean in the power portion and then RT in the speed (e.g. in the current class Ashlee Bond).

Oh, found the correct class. They likely just wanted to get out on the field and didn’t need any more jumps.
