Power washers

I heard Santa might bring me a power washer for Christmas, but wants my input on specs. Yippee skippy!

This summer I got to borrow a little electric washer - think it was 1.5 gpm and 1600 psi. It cleaned my barn walls well, but din't have the oomph to get the translucent panels on my barn room from the ground. Headers on the eaves are at 12 feet, so I'm guessing panels are 14-16 feet off the ground??

What washer do you have or recommend? Do you have strong opinions about gas or electric, and why?

Never seen an electric one worth anything. To get something 14-16 feet away, you will need a pretty good one. Mid 2,000 psi, I always look for a Honda motor.

Mi-T-M 2505 that’s 20 years old. I mainly use it on wood, so didn’t get one over 2500psi. It’s 4.4 gpm, so you need a good water supply. I have a couple of telescopic wands that allow us to reach up to 25’.

I’d buy another one just like it if I lost this one.

Thanks.
If one has plentiful outlets, what are the tradeoffs of Gas vs electric? I am strong but confess starting many gas engines has not been my strong suit. Fast twitch shoulder strength, not so much. If 2 washers promise similar psi and gpm, what will be the difference between the gas and electric models?

If you have good 20 amp outlets you can get a 2,000PSI electric unit, anything higher than that will probably need a 220 volt outlet.

work capability is a combination of pressure and gallons per minute. My 2500 psi 4.4 gpm takes a strong person to operate it. It gets a lot work done in a hurry, but it pushes back stronger than the wand at a car wash.

I, too, have trouble with most gas motors and getting them started. However, I borrowed a friend’s gas power washer a few weeks ago to do my trailer. It was a Honda motor and started right up for me, shoulder problems and all. It also had more then enough juice to get that trailer sparkly clean!

You can bring it to my place and do a demonstration, then we’ll review it’s performance over some wine and delicious munchies.

I really need a pressur washer here on my farm. I need all the input I can get. I have some kind of white stuff on my barn ceiling,\ that needs to come off, and I neeed something to clean horse blankets, stall walls, my farm machinery, etc. One other thing I would like to do is get some of the gross spider webs off the top of my arena ceilings, I think at least 14 feet high.

I do would like to stay electric, because I too, have problems getting gas engines started. Like keeping “old” gas in it over winter, etc., which I hear is really NOT good for the engines. But it always happens here.

We do have 220 amp in my small barn, but I need to use the pressure washer outside on my farm equipment, and also in my other dairy barn converted to a horse barn. the walls really need cleaning.

So any help/suggestions are very welcome and needed.

we have an electric pressure washer that also has a tank for diesel for hot water that you turn on with the flick of a switch. the only problem i’ve really had is that the water gets so hot that the handle gets really hot which isn’t such a problem in the winter.
