Looking for recommendations of a vet in Aiken who will give a very thorough PPE and be available to get it done quickly. I have read in older threads suggesting Dr Redmond from Avoca and Dr Jamie Carter from Southern Equine. Still good?. The owner uses Aiken Equine and I would like to avoid using the same vet. Thanks!
Dr. Redmond sees our horses when they are in Aiken. I think she’d be fine.
When I moved my daughter’s horse to AIken, I asked my vet who she’d recommend and she said Jamie Carter. Many of my New England friends use Dr. Carter as well.
Kevin Keane is down there and I believe does PPEs as well as taking care of his clients that are there for the winter. Hard to beat him.
All that being said, I used Dr. Carter a few years ago when one of our horses went lame and VEI (our normal lameness vets) wasn’t going to be back down for a couple of weeks. I’m really picky about vets and he impressed me.

He used to be our equine surgeon here and I LOVED him! He is also an awesome lameness vet.

Dr Carter is a very well respected and thoroughly knows his stuff. I really like him - a friend of mine had a tricky case horse and Dr Carter was very knowledgeable. A host of other vets had looked at him before Dr Carter. Unfortunately, the horse had neuro issues and had to be put down, but I would give him my glowing recommendation!
Dr. Carter did my PPE last August. I was thoroughly impressed with everything he did. You will not be disappointed!
