LOVE Dr. Kate… super thorough. She’s my go-to.
If you can’t get her, try Dr. Pete. He’s done some lameness evals for me and he’s been wonderful, as well.

Larry Wexler is great and on-site at WEC. Not sure if he’s got time for a PPE, but worth asking if horse is able to be shipped there or onsite?
Larry Wexler did a PPE on site at HITS for me a few years ago and was great to work with. I also needed the xrays from that PPE resent to me recently, called them, and had the link in hand within the hour.
I’ve used Dr. Blair at Ocala Equine Hospital twice now. I was remote and he was very communicative and easy to work with both times.

Just whatever you do take C-Spine rads (Neck films C5-C7) and have someone who actually knows what a neuro sign looks like.

Dr Blair was my vet for a few years while my horses were in Ocala. He is lovely and did a great pre-purchase for me on a new horse there last year. A friend recently used another vet in his practice, Dr. Courtney Varney, and had a great experience with her as well. Her radiographic findings and interpretation were validated by the friend’s usual sports medicine specialist/boarded surgeon.
Be sure to get quotes. Some of these vets are pricier than others.
My choice for a PPE, buying or selling in Ocala, is Dr Adam Lusk from OEH.
