Looking to buy a prospect/project sight unseen from a friend of a friend and would like a basic PPE done. Can anyone recommend a good, honest vet near Charleston, WV? (Not to be confused with Charles Town, WV! Who named these places??)
no recommendations, but I just want to say good luck! You deserve a fun horse to ride after the injuries and issues youāve had over the last couple of years.
Aww thanks, Element!! I did buy an absolutely wonderful horse last year so Iāve had lots of fun with him. Unfortunately the nail in the hoof will lay him up for a while but it does leave some time/energy for a project.
Iām also no help but I hope the PPE goes well and you get a really fun project to work with while Z heals up.
Hey. I live in Wayne County. I use the Equine Center in Chesapeake, OH. If you want me to I can message you their number. They are really, I mean REALLY, good
well, Iām an enablerāI say do it! that face is darling!
That gives you something to ride and have fun with while Z heals from his hoof injury, and while your spreadsheets show that itās hard to make money with a project horse, you could always go into it with a āleaseā mentality: If you plan to have fun with a new horse for a few months until Z is better, and then sell, then the extra care costs are like free leasing something to ride, but youāre not saddled with the extra expenses indefinitelyā¦
This is from someone who has more horses than I have time to work with, so Iām probably not the best āadultyā model.
@Gypsy My Girl, thanks, I will look them up!!
@ElementFarm , yeah thatās kind of what Iām thinking! I donāt expect to make a profit on a horse pretty much ever but Iād like to have something fun to bring along without the pressure of finding a āforeverāĀ horse.
Did you ever find an Equine Vet?
I havenāt followed up because the seller is being a bit unrealistic on price.
