PPE Vet Recommendations in Lexington, KY?

Possibly going to try a horse in Lexington, KY to be my AO horse. Really nice horse, but Im traveling from outside the area.

Any recommendations for a reputable, honest vet who is good at completing PPEs? Im looking for a vet that will be honest and not try to rip me off.

Thanks in advance!

Dr. Mike Beyer is my vet and is excellent, experienced, and very conservative. Reasonable rates. Office number 859-873-5509.

I also really like and trust Dr. Scott Hopper at Rood and Riddle, excellent vet, but they will be more expensive at a big clinic like that. 859-233-2116.

Good luck!

Chris Newton (was at R&R, I think – don’t know where he is now). I had him vet a number of horses for me when I lived in Lex.

Duncan Peters (head of the sport horse division at Haggard.) He was my vet in California 30 years ago and was good back then. He understands show horses.

Martha Rodgers. Was at R&R a long time ago. She was my regular vet when I lived in Lex 10 years ago. Love her!

I would highly recommend Chris Newton. He is at R&R. He rides so he has a great perspective from that point of view.

Duncan Peters is great, but last I heard he had gone to MSU:

thank you all so much!!!

If anyone has any other feedback, it would be greatly appreciated.

Another vote for Chris Newton from Rood & Riddle. Amazing vet. Like another poster said, he rides too so you get another rider’s POV. Friendly guy, easy to talk to. I used him for my horses when I lived in Lexington. I personally didnt find R&R to be too expensive like another poster said, not sure if geographically they are expensive (definitely cheaper than the vets on LI).

Park Equine is also very good. I use Hagyard’s myself but a lot of people at my barn use Park.

I would recommend anyone at Hagyard or RR. Lots of great vets in that area with those 2 hospitals.
