You know, what he’s doing – holding the face back and pressuring the horse forward with his legs – anyone can do; and I would be SO ticked off if somebody did that to my horse without preparing him mentally and physically for that sort of collected work. Very bad experience for the horse!

Californianinkansas, I edited my post. If you can, you might want to edit my quote in your post! :)
OMG, I am so sorry! :o I deleted the entire post just to be on the safe side. Thank you for catching that!
I can’t even watch them all. These people truly have no idea, and that DEEPLY saddens me.
I’m going to go back and edit my posts to remove his full name–if we all do that, he won’t come up in a search and maybe this thread will remain open (if the dressage one is edited to remove the alert to this thread).
Oh, if there was an Xtranormal-type video, that would add a whole new layer to this tasty Blooming Onion! (Is that what they’re called? Been a while since I had one…and now I want one!)

Wait till he meets one that goes up when he does that.

Why the heck would anyone let someone sit on his/her horse and let that person pound away on his back trying to hump him into …what was that…passage? piaffe? Sorry, I’d be telling you to get off my darned horse.
-
The leg yield training video was so…wrong. First of all, the horse was not moving enough to even try to teach a leg yield. You can’t push rope and get a leg yield. Secondly telling the student to “dig in with her spur” really? That’s how you teach leg yield? And then to “apply constant pressure”? Really? And to…good lord… turn her toe out -I guess to get that spur in more.
In all the videos the horse being ridden is upside down -high headed and hollow backed. I am no trainer, but I’d say let’s get an athletic and balanced horse first right?
Dang. Sometimes even the client has to have some sense of what they’re getting into -some theory background or something so that when some fool starts doing some fool thing to your horse you can say STOP!
Paula
Oh.My.God. Someone needs to make that their signature.

Odds are the “silk thread reins” would have broken by now.
Did anyone else hear all the whipping involved when that poor horse was forced to “piaffe? The lessons are nothing but the students being told they are “good” gooooood” and just told to do different stuff with hardly any or nonsensical direction.

Yes, I heard it. That is why she swings her haunches in, trying to get away from it. What a saint. Someone should grab that whip and smack him with it.
“Dig your spur.”
:sigh:

And if that doesn’t work get bigger ones, face your horse into a wall, and try again.

Pssssssst! The clinic videos live on – http://moby.to/3oor8s
In all seriousness… what is that supposed to be a video of? Allegedly what does NP claim is happening in that video?
That particular video is “schooling piaffe”
Re: the piaffe video
From Nick’s facebook page:
"This was a spur of the moment fun we were having at the end of the day.
This horse is 20 something years old lol, but tries her heart out!
She was trained in the western style, so she knows what she knows. Of course if I started working with her much earlier in her life, this Piaffe would look much different. But I had to take what she offered and I was very impressed! I feel her trainer, did a super job with her, and she could actually be much much lighter, but she is also used for several hours a day teaching beginners, and so her listening to my seat aids to stay collected needs some fine tuning.
If I had a full week with just me working with her, I’m confident that I could get her much lighter in the Piaffe, but considering that it’s something that she hasn’t had to do in years, and as you will see by the video how I set her up and I don’t really push the issue, I think she did a phenomenal job!"

Words fail.
Why is he so fixated on Piaffe and Passage? Honestly…:sigh:

Well, the good news is that the lady with the big black horse that let NP ride (video) didn’t come back for a second round, and neither did the nice rider on the gray in the lengthening and HP video. Once appeared to be enough.
And the BM for the Iowa clinic barn doesn’t seem to be besties with NP anymore. She’s gone from his SuperSecretSupporters group.

That’s good to hear. I only watched 3 videos and couldn’t take it anymore, and these were just clips; I can’t imagine auditing or riding…
