Wait till he meets one that goes up when he does that.
My horse creates drama in his mind and doesn’t let go off it, but I’m kind of enjoying imagining what he would do to him… I feel like a bad person for it, but my core hurts from a ride of giving with the reins and using core for any collection I wanted because he was in an explosive mood and I managed to avoid even a single kick at a leg, much less any of the larger leaps he enjoys by not pulling on his face.

From Nick’s facebook page:

"This was a spur of the moment fun we were having at the end of the day.

This horse is 20 something years old lol, but tries her heart out!
She was trained in the western style, so she knows what she knows. Of course if I started working with her much earlier in her life, this Piaffe would look much different. But I had to take what she offered and I was very impressed! I feel her trainer, did a super job with her, and she could actually be much much lighter, but she is also used for several hours a day teaching beginners, and so her listening to my seat aids to stay collected needs some fine tuning.

If I had a full week with just me working with her, I’m confident that I could get her much lighter in the Piaffe, but considering that it’s something that she hasn’t had to do in years, and as you will see by the video how I set her up and I don’t really push the issue, I think she did a phenomenal job!"
The fact that he was doing that to a 20 year-old horse pisses me off even more. I’m pissed at him and at the horse’s human to let that go on for the interval of the video, and worse FOR A WEEK. You should have more respect for your old horse than that.

Paula

and the jumping videos?? Kind of like someone strapped a sack of potatoes to a saddle and made the horse jump with it. terrifying.

Last I checked the Jennifer that was the barn manager in Iowa was still friends with his personal fb account…

Watching and listening to him just really makes my skin crawl…

What is he doing with this poor elderly and patient horse? She’s 20. She doesn’t need to be schooling piaffe because he wants to make a video. Where is the owner stopping this before the horse loses confidence or blows a tendon?

The horse is a 20+ y o Arab/SB saintly schoolhorse, seen proudly toting tots and teens around courses and barrels. The Master rode her only once, not for a week. Luckily for the dear mare. She likely still hasn’t recovered.

looking at the videos this guy has no idea how to train half-pass. That poor Friesian owner and her poor horse.

Lovey1121, I immediately visualized the grand old dame “proudly toting tots and teens around courses and barrels”. I love how you described this, and knew a couple brilliant old Arabians in the same kind of work.

It kind of cleansed my palate from that video. Thanks.

What’s the deal with posting higher in that trot-lengthening video?:confused::confused:
P-dawg seems to think that using the pelvis aggressively will effectively shove horses into the desired movement.

He told the one girl to “get OUT of the saddle” when he was trying to help her school flying changes… It’s just bizarre. Like he gets some weird pleasure out of pretending to be something he’s not, like that guy in Silence of the Lambs…

all he says is goooooooood…gooooooooood…excelllent…gooooooood. shudders at the sound of his voice

Now I’m picturing NP tethered to a hand truck a la Hannibal Lecter, with the NoBite goalie mask on his face. Is it bad that I grin at the imagery?

Jeeze, when I was 10 yrs old I rode an ex racehorse pony that would do that. UNASKED!!

I was a genius I tell you! A Maestro!
Why is he so fixated on Piaffe and Passage? Honestly…:sigh:
Because these are the movements that make him a “grand prix dressage trainer”.

He can force her to jig and call it piaffe or passage.

Of course, teaching the “airs above ground” of which he is so fond, to a 20 year old mare? Piece of cake!

She seems a saint. It should only take a week to “teach” her to rear.

Well, yes, it’s about making riders feel good as opposed to riding well, then they’ll have you back. If, however, you have any idea of what you’re doing, it’s patronizing as all get out.

Hey gang, Group is closed now as in we are not taking in any new members. I don’t want it to get so big that I close a connection with you, so I’m cutting it were it is.

I feel extra special now…I’m one of the cool kids  that will benefit from the close connection with the Maestro!

blech!

While there seems to be an unending source of fodder for discussion on this individual, I think we’ve given enough airtime to the topic.

Thanks,
