Practical Horseman’s George Morris jump critiques

I recently received a card in the mail promoting Practical Horseman. In the card it states there are critiques by George Morris in the magazine. I know it’s been in the magazines for a long time, but I thought when the ban occurred, someone else(Beezie?) took over. Did they go back to his critiques or is the card just not updated?

Last I knew, Beezie was still doing them. I think she just posted one on Facebook recently. I’d be pretty darn surprised if that changed.

I’m also pretty darn surprised that PH has not updated those cards. I think Beezie has been doing them for close to two years. I believe she took over well before the ban started.

Beezie is still doing them. Also, the card still says 12issues in a subscription, monthly publication. Um, it’s 4 issues, not 12. Another thing, the card says (I’m paraphrasing) Save 41% off the newsstand price. You can’t buy them at newsstands or tack shops for that matter anymore, so tell me again how I’m saving money? Practical Horseman has gone down the tubes.

It might be worth sending them an email asking them about this card. I wonder if it is a case of their advertiser mailing out the wrong thing.

Coincidentally, I was just shredding a bunch of old mail, and came across a card from PH with a “Special Offer” of $10 plus $3 shipping and handling for a full year subscription. It says nothing about GM or anyone else. The card had to be mailed by October 30, 2020 so its more than 3 months old at least.

This sounds like an old mailer the publishing company has on hand with a 3rd party vendor that nobody has bothered to update in a looooong time. Probably the sales department wrote it and have just been sending them the same artwork and order ever since, or someone who took care of that was let go and nobody at the office knew about it - an invoice comes in from the direct mail service provider, someone approves, and nobody is the wiser.

I would reach out to the sales team or someone at the publisher as I’m sure they have similar cards going out for other titles as well.

The mailer card stated 4 issues in a year for me.

Mine was advertising a free issue and a free hat.

The card was inside the magazine.

In Saturday’s mail was what I think is the same card the OP received, it mentioned jumping clinic with GM. They must be sending out old cards.

The thing is, most of these types of mailers are typically done by an outside company. So once again, I am doubt PH sent out the wrong cards, they advertising company sent out the wrong cards. If no one tells them, thy will likely not know about it.

I learned all this after I received some weird fliers from the local school district. I contacted the district, who contacted the company in charge of their mass mailings and it got straightened out.
