Preferred name for horse poop?

Local news just had a story on Silver Charm poop. Apparently Dixieland Preserves is selling jars of it for $200.

News anchor said “there are cow patties. What do they call it for horses?”

I always said horse buns.

I’d like to drop her a message with the preferred name.

What is popular?

Horse apples/road apples

At our farm, it’s just the plain, boring horse poop or manure. No special name for it.

But can I say that preserved manure in a glass jar, even if it is really from Silver Charm, just seems odd to me!

Manure. It is manure.

And I have to agree with above… manure in a jar is just weird.

Road apples.

Which resulted in great levity when ads for “Country Road Apple Wine” hit TV back in the day, complete with catchy tune.

It’s just gross, not weird. I don’t care who pooped it out. It’s still just manure.

When our non-horsey nephew visited and helped clean a stall, he called them poo nuggets. The name stuck at our farm.

Horse turds.

I adored Silver Charm, but why would someone want his poop? Weird. Reminds me of the lady in Maine who makes and sells moose poop decorations. Other than yucky gag gifts I wonder what the market really is for those kinds of things.

Years ago now, I was tacking up in the barn aisle while the brothers of two of the lesson kids were “cleaning stalls”. The boys were about 8 at the time and having a very serious conversation about the quality of the manure they found.

Mike: I think pony poop looks like meatballs.
Tyler: Ugh. THIS pony’s poop looks more like marinara to me!

The terminology stuck.

Well, at MY Extremely Sophisticated Equine Establishment, it is referred to as

. Man- you- RAY.

My dogs like to nibble on some horse poop every morning when I’m cleaning stalls. In the winter I call them poopcicles.

Regional thing on “road apples.” I went on a treasure hunt as a kiddo in either 4h or PC and “road apples” was on it. I had just moved to KY. I was the only kid who didn’t bring back poop  Then I moved to Southern Mississippi and road apples were what I now know is mock orange.

So while I got used to “apple fork” and it drops from my mouth maybe twice a year, poop is poop or manure or shit, and it is picked up with a manure fork.

Must admit - one time I had a fantasy about buying little jars and putting one piece of manure in each jar and calling it “Pure Arabian Face Cream.” It would have been the truth.

It’s manure around here… unless I’m cranky than it’s 'horse shit." If I’m really pissed at someone it’s: “That’s horse shit on a stick.” For a news anchor - share all the suggestions here and give her a laugh.

I don’t think horse poop rises to the level of a shit LOL. A shit implies something stinky and nasty…dogs, humans and cows shit…not our precious horses :winkgrin:

I was going to post exactly that but you beat me to it.
