You can have pregnant animals aborted by your vet so that there will not be more puppies or kittens born. When so many are being killed at the pounds and at animal control, it’s the thing to do.
My vet has told me on those occasions when I’ve found a pregnant animal and taken it in but had the kitten/puppies aborted, that the animals were viable. Better to abort than to have them born and then either keep them or place them elsewhere. I always keep the adult animal. And if I find one with kittens or puppies on the ground, I keep those also. Because giving animals away does not guarantee that they will be taken care of.[/QUOTE]
No it doesn’t…but there are so many animals in kind, loving homes…the odds are high it will be great if you choose the homes wisely. Years back we found a young female stray, figured she was 6 months old tops. We took her to the vet to have her spayed and she was already pregnant. The vet said we could still have her spayed, and there would be no kittens. I didn’t feel that was my choice to make, so I took her home. She had 4 kittens, 3 survived and every single one of them ended up in a life long home. So in my little experiment, it was 4 for 4, mama and babies had great lives. Once she was done nursing the wee ones, she got spayed, and I ended up with 3 more cats. lol If someone is stepping up and taking care of someone else’s mess, they’ve got to handle it in the way that feels right to them.
OP - Can’t wait to see puppy pics!
