Pregnant mare and Cushings?

My pregnant mare has a bit more of a coat then she should this summer. I’m thinking of asking the vet to test for cushings disease.

If she is positive for cushings, is there anything I need to worry about regarding her pregnancy? Or treating her during her pregnancy?

I do have to watch her weight. She’s an easy keeper with an incredible appetite but that’s not anything new. She has always been the one to scarf her hay down and complain that she is starving.

Prascend hasn’t been studied in pregnant or nursing mares. Studies in mice haven’t shown any ill effects but since horses aren’t mice…

Pregnancy hormones can do some odd things, but it’s a good idea to test anyway. If you’re in the northern hemisphere, we’re a month-ish away from the peak of the seasonal rise, so it’s a good time
