Pregnant riders support group? :)
Since baby R started kicking about to where DH could feel it too (seriously, if this baby was a horse for sale, she’d be advertised as “athletic”!) neither of us has been in the mood to canoe, he’s weirded out by the baby being in there while we paddle (cause she wasn’t before that…?) and yeah, it’s hard to feel up for canoeing while your baby preforms jumping jacks inside you. But my desire has changed daily since we had our fun Christmas/New Years night, so who knows what I’ll feel like tomorrow!
I just mentioned to DH that Little S pretty much has not stopped moving in the last few days. My theory is that he’s always moved this much but now he’s getting big enough that I feel every single movement.

I spent the first 4 months in a depression over this pregnancy which I wrote about earlier, so yeah… canoeing was not even on the table. Then I woke up out of the depression and got over the fear of losing yet another one and had some interest, but found that I still could not keep my focus in the boat. And now that he moves all. the. time. and DH can now not only feel him, but see my belly shake it’s another game changer.

We’ve had some interesting and funny conversations about the subject… I have not apologized and he has not pressured me.

Do we call artificial canoeing, kayaking? Or maybe portaging…

As for canoing itself, I’ve also had zero physical drive. I have an “irritable uterus” since about 20 weeks and can’t paddle, canoe or float without experiencing bad Braxton hicks. In fact I can’t even wear pants without getting the lovely cramping sensation.

Only 6 weeks left!!!

Eeek, then it’s best you stay on dry land, my dear.

I think “kayaking” means paddling alone. But then there really isn’t a formal COTH dictionary…

I love this thread more and more every day!
Ah yes, the artificial canoe was used here too(Clomid). I was a hormonal psycho for a month and cried at least once a day.
Gonal F here. It was our 5th cycle of artificial canoeing before moving on to BYOC (Build your own Canoe), and place in the water. I really didn’t think it would work, especially since I took it upon myself to do a weekend up at trainer’s in between the artificial canoeing experiences. But, here I am with a wriggly, jumpy, bouncy tummy to say otherwise.

The Gonal F didn’t bother me at all (other than the shots), but man the progesterone afterwards was enough for anyone. I had previously done one brand, and they switched to another. When I started having suicidal thoughts, I called my doctor and was like WTF. They quickly changed the trajectory of the plan.

Last night I had a total melt down about watching my life go by via FB. Friends out showing, at the lake, doing things. I know, poor poor pitiful me. sigh.

Zero drive to canoe until about 18 weeks. Now that it’s back, the uh, end result weirds me out with intense uterine contractions and a baby doing somersaults. It definitely kills the blissful afterglow.

Nick, I have that same feeling DAILY. We are missing my beloved week at family camp in August. And I’m MOVING my wonderful horse to hang out for 3-6 months…I know he will enjoy vacay but it kills me. KILLS me. Even the gym is tough…do-do-do here I am walking on the treadmill…while the runners around me make me jealous and sad.

If it’s any consolation it does go faster than you think (Clichè right?). Somehow I’ve jumped from 20 weeks to 34 weeks, and now I’m counting down the days until I can ride while folding mini-human clothing.

Full disclosure, I put my cat in a onesie yesterday to make sure I knew how they worked.

I fully understand the FOMO (fear of missing out syndrome). I watched all my friends tube the river yesterday, while I dropped them off, drove to the pick-up location and slathered myself with SPF 50 and put my cankles up. Who have I become?

I hear you on that one, I had a total panic attack the first time. It’s freaky and definitely takes the fun out of it. Being kicked in the process does not help, either.

Dude, at least you got an end result. My canoe tips over and straight up sinks.
I can’t get over the passing thoughts (and physical reminders) that there is something living in there.

 You know how this works, mscho… we can’t believe this happend unless there is photographic evidence.

Yep, I dropped DH off at the trail head to mountain bike. There were a couple other gents there about to head off and one said… “Now THAT’S love!” I laughed, and waddled around to the other side of the Jeep so they could see the belly and said… “Nope, not love… just knocked up.” They chuckled, made a few nice comments about how good I looked and swapped a few suggestions about what made their wives feel better the last trimester. Kind of made my day, actually.

I…do not feel the same way. I’m at 28 and it seems like AGES since I was 20.

I wish I had a cat to practice swaddling on. Onsies are easy, those damned swaddles look like a chinese puzzle to me.

For whatever reason Little B quiets down during canoeing. Either that or I’m good at tuning out. Thankfully this is the case as he’s basically going at it 100% of the time otherwise.

First off, the canoe reference made me pee a bit (easy feat these days, maybe, but still hilarious)

Secondly, of course I took pictures. I wouldn’t dare disappoint a bunch of pregnant ladies…

And a baby room shot, just to show I do manage to be somewhat productive and don’t spend all day dressing up my cat…

Mscho, your cat looks positively…thrilled lol

OMG, your cats face in the second picture!! Oh mscho you just made my day, that’s just the best

I’m 28 too and while 20 doesn’t feel like it was that long ago I feel like I’ve been pregnant forever! It’s ridiculous how 1) badly I want a margarita 2) can’t sleep at night lol between bathroom breaks, the flipping gymnast in my stomach and getting craps in my feet that are only cured by standing up…I was so tired this morning I convinced myself that it would be ok if I skipped school…no one would mind.

(fyi, I’ve been in school for um, quite a while)

I also picked up my skateboard the other day and bounded out the door before I remembered I couldn’t do that anymore lol

This is definitely my favorite thread on COTH!

Mscho, thank you for the morning laughs! Thankfully I have a nephew to practice on, otherwise my poor dogs would be the guinea pigs. Also, I love your nursery. Nephew is now a year and a half old, and I feel like I need to warn you all that putting pants on a toddler is like a freaking Rubik’s Cube. At least the newborns can’t move as much.

I made you pee, you made me pee. Lets call it even.

No really, I had a good Santa Clause belly laugh over that second picture of your cat. Like… “and a little round belly that shook she she laughed like a bowl full of jelly.”

Whoever said pregnancy was only a short period of time was never pregnant, me thinks. Because goodness it sure feels like eternity to me and I have 11 weeks to go. I’m so uncomfortable, I don’t know how I am going to make it. I struggled to put on my shoes yesterday for heaven’s sake!

My DH says pants are over-rated anyway.

HOLY OMG BEST LAUGH OF THE WEEK. Thank you cat, thank you for making me laugh. I needed it.

I agree. It is never worth the risk to an unborn baby. I didn’t ride during my pregnancy either. I would have never forgiven myself if something would have happened. Animals are unpredictable & can just trip & go down.

Right now pants are HIGHLY over-rated lol even maternity pants.

On that note, does anyone else have issues with the seam of pants/shorts between the actual pant material and the belly band? I’m noticing no matter what kind I try when I’m sitting down they feel like they’re cutting me in two, even when they’re pulled down so far they might as well not be there lol I can hook my thumb into the seam and pull it out so I know they’re not THAT tight but still I feel like they’re just sawing me in two  turning my work outfits into skirts only
