Pregnant riders support group? :)

Boo - I was thinking you were Nikiwink? Maybe I have my posters confused.

I hear you on the bloating. Usually by 5:00 pm I look about 6 mo pregnant. LOL. However, where these photos were taken in the am and I was wearing my tight fitting breeches that really support my tummy, I don’t look that pregnant, although in some of the photos, and when I ride in the evening, the tummy is blatantly obvious (I didn’t post those photos! )

Nice to see you here and best of luck!!

I’ll be 20 weeks tomorrow. I had my mid-point OB appointment yesterday. Thankfully the baby cooperated mostly and we found out we’re having a GIRL! Thank you by all that is holy! Boys are great but I really, really wanted a girl. The doctor was a little frustrated with her though because she kept throwing up a diva hand every time he wanted to take specific photos. Which means I have to go back for another ultrasound in 4 weeks. Still not completely happy about being pregnant but having a girl makes me feel better about the future.

How is everyone else doing?

Rosie your right i was nikiwink too

Lol ive resorted to riding in leggings which dont help my look  my jods are not comfy. Ive already taken to wearing a belly band as bybthe end of the day none of my work pants do up comfortably at all

you too

Congrats on the girl

We are still deciding if we will find out. My folks want to know and i expect we’ll recognise girl or boy in the 20wk scan so probably wont be able to not find out lol

Failed my glucose test… and just barely. Scheduled for the three hour on Friday. Ugh.

Still over being pregnant and all the unwanted commentary on my body and asking questions about how I feel when those same people darn well didn’t care how I felt before. And I apologize profusely to any pregnant woman I ever did that to before - I’M SORRY I WAS AN ASS.

Otherwise, continue to feel really good, luckily. Like, my belly has popped but I don’t notice it unless I’m actually looking. Balance is good, not a ton of pain, yada yada yada. I’m kinda sitting here waiting for the other shoe to drop.[/QUOTE]

Could not agree more! I hate having people unnecessarily in my business usually. It’s so much worse being pregnant. This is my second and I’m harboring a fantasy about not telling people (outside of those at the barn who know bc I stopped jumping) until 20 weeks. I’m afraid my body is going to give me away, though. I’m just 11 weeks now and look heavier overall. Can still squeeze into my breeches but the look is not so cute!

You can ask the doctor not to tell you. They usually ask if you want to know.

I found with my first that you really can’t tell what you’re looking at, boy vs girl, on an ultrasound. My technician pointed out the girl parts last time and I still couldn’t tell! This is my second and it’s going to be a surprise. My OB and the nurses seem to love that decision, haha.

I went on a fun field trip to the liquor store yesterday. I am 24 weeks with twins so I look like I’m 7.5 months pregnant at the moment.

I really wanted the Triple Crown bottle of Maker’s Mark that was released earlier this month. I wasn’t looking forward to the weird looks but if I had waited even until this weekend they would have been sold out in the entire city. I called around on Monday night to find one. They said they had 36 bottles at the big liquor store downtown. I called back just before lunch time yesterday to put 3 on hold. They were already down to 4 bottles and said it was only one per person. The employee suggested a bring a friend if I wanted more than one.

So I grabbed my coworker and got to the liquor store as fast as I could. The lady at the front burst out laughing when she saw me and I definitely got some sideways glances. But I got my two bottles and the guy who had helped me on the phone asked me if I still wanted the third bottle. Yes, please! That left only one bottle in stock and I believe that is the last one in the city that didn’t already have a hold placed on it.

I got one for myself (never opening it), one as a birthday gift for a friend and one to sell just in case it’s worth selling at some point.

Oh yeah, our doctor tried to point things out but unless it was a hand, a foot or the head we had no idea what we were looking at! Just glad that he did knew what all the grey blotches were!

Anyone else who has put riding aside for now still cruising Tack of the Day and tack websites? I have zero reason to be looking and yet I do it anyway.

Ugh, I had to make a liquor store trip the other day to pick up boxes because we were moving (seriously, wine boxes are the best for moving your cups and other kitchen stuff!) and some beer for the guys helping DH with the heavy lifting.

I was 28 weeks pregnant and doing my best to suck in my gut the entire time! Luckily I’m still borderline ā€œis she fat or pregnant?ā€ so no one said anything to me, but I was so self conscious!

Haha right, it’s kind of amazing. I can barely make out a baby and here they are pointing out organs and stuff.

Yes! I stopped at Dover and bought 2 halters the other day. Because who doesn’t need some backup halters? I also am watching Devon on livestream and watch my old show videos when I am missing riding.

I have 4 weeks to go, and then I’m really hoping to be on again 4 weeks after that!

Lol’s
I suspect we will as my partner is the son of a midwife who went with her as a kid and was very involved in looking after his 2 younger sisters as babies (he was a teen).

Me im just more the curious type and started googling how to interpret ultrasound baby scans  so for my last scan i knew what each grey blob was pretty well.

Lol that’s how my husband was at the 20 week scan, he told me that all he could see were blobs  I’m still glad he came though!

Question for anyone who ran into pubic bone pain (or pubic symphysis diastasis) - I am in agony, and I’m only at 26 weeks, so I have a ways to go- what if anything helped? I went to PT, did that help anyone? Thanks in advance

I need SOMETHING to keep me occupied haha! Doesn’t help that I am switching disciplines post baby (hunters to jumpers) and ā€œneedā€ things. To be fair, I’ve offloaded a lot of my old stuff too.

So I had the baby! Finally! A little boy, 8lb 7oz, three weeks ago. It went really well, took about 8 hours from waking up to contractions to having him in my arms. I did get a second degree tear but it seems to have healed well and I’m thinking about getting back on a horse (gently) some time soon.

The whole newborn thing has gone a lot better than I feared it might (he sleeps pretty well, feeds well etc) - I think having low expectations that were easily exceeded was a good stragety ;).

I felt up to feeding out from about two weeks PP, and got a Manduca baby carrier to take him with me hands-free which he thankfully LOVES (zonks out in it every time). For anyone else doing this with horses at home, the job roster I’d set up to cover the few weeks before by due date through to a couple of weeks after was essential. I distributed phone lists with vet, farrier, contacts for each of the livery horses, helpful horsey neighbours etc which definitely helped ease my mind. I also hired the neighbour’s daughter to do certain checks for me which was well worth the money.

I’m sure there were lots more things I was going to mention but I can’t, of course, think of them right now, but feel free to ask any questions!

Congratulations!

Does anyone know or have experience with using Back on Track human products while pregnant? My back is starting to suck more than usual and was thinking maybe a BOT t shirt might be nice?

I have used an infrared back pad (has an additional heating setting) in the past, but my doctor and acupuncturist say to not use one for longer than 15-20 minutes now that I am pregnant because it can raise my core temperature, I am sure different types of products will affect temperature differently. I have to skip a day or two on the horse that really hurts my back . I know my time is limited anyway on that one now that I am in my second trimester.

**I just looked up on the BoT website, because I was interested to see if clothing was different than a back pad, fine print at the bottom: ā€œInformation on this site is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any diseases. Not to be used if becoming pregnant or pregnant.ā€
